ebaz4205's Issues

Communication gets stuck

I received my board a few days ago and now I am in the process of testing it but after connecting it to my computer this is the only I get:

1.0.0.47 (Dec 07 2017 - 00:36:15 +0800)

Model: Zynq Zed Development Board
DRAM: ECC disabled 256 MiB

It gets stuck right before printing the nand memory size, this makes me think it might be damaged since they wrapped the board with plastic that is easily charged electrostatically... Or I might be just missing something

Has somebody had the same issue?

Bad blocks in nand flash. Coincidence?

Hello Everybody,

I recently got an EBAZ4205 board. U-Boot reports the last 5 sectors of the nand flash as bad blocks:

zynq-uboot> nand bad 0

Device 0 bad blocks:
  07f60000
  07f80000
  07fa0000
  07fc0000
  07fe0000

I wouldn't give it too much importance if it weren't because it seems that all boards have exactly the same sectors marked as bad blocks. I do not believe in coincidences, even less in this one.

Does someone know if there is any particular reason for which all boards seem to have these bad blocks? Or are there lucky people who got an ebaz4205 with a healthy nand flash?

Thank you very much for your time and your support!

Missing Components

I just received my EBAZ4205 from aliexpress, I noticed some components are missing compared to PCB in Photo
Missing: (next to J5, J3 Fan Headers)
U67, R2546, R2544, R2545
U68, R2548, R2549, R2547
U69, R2554, R2551
U70, R2557, R2555
Added:
R2553, R2552, R2554, R2557 33 ohm
33 ohm resisters are bypassing the missing opto-isolators and resistors for PWM and SPEED for fan. Due to no Isolation be careful if applying more than the maximum allowed 1.2 to 3.3V of FPGA I/O set Voltage.

Missing: (next to U24 Lan)
Y3 25MHz xtal
C377, C380 22pF
Added:
R1485 33 ohms
XOUT.0 used for clock for U24 LAN IC
(I have added 25Mhz xtal and caps)

Missing: (next to U72)
C2394 100nF
C2398 3.9uF
not really an issue as U72 IC and other components are missing and these are just extra bypass caps

Can Be Added:
SWITCH S3 if you short out missing R2649 Zero Ohm Resistor.
Or you can just link right leg of SW2 to right leg of SW3 if looking from front of PCB (leg closest to LAN socket)

X5 50MHz 3225 oscillator, you need to add 0 ohm resistor or link at R1372 and L29 on bottom of PCB
(I have added 50MHz osc and links)

X3 RTC (Real Time Clock) possibly PCF8523 RTC
Y2 32.6678 kHz 3x8

Vivado 2021.2 and Ethernet example clock

With the new version I can’t set the ENET0 to 100Mbps as in the ethernet example.. any other way to make this work?
The fields to select clocks are read only.

Add categories to Github discussions

Add additional categories which would be useful to the project

  • Troubleshooting - for helping people setting up their board
  • Documentation - for discussion about tutorials, learning materials, Wiki
  • Development - for research on the development board, promotion of useful tools and projects

I would use the "Open ended discussion" format for these.

Existing categories are very general, but I would keep them for whatever discussion that doesn't fit in the suggested categories.

Weird characters in UART

Hi,
recently, I got one of these boards and I tried to have a look at the SSH in UART. Unfortunately, I get some mixed right and wrong characters.

I tried 2 different USB to TTL converters and cables, but the issue is still there. 115200 bauds.

Am I missing any particular option for the serial connection?

Here you have a sample of the output:

Information on readme how to upload bitstream to FPGA?

Hello! I'm relative new to Xilinx FPGAs and ordered one of these boards. I'm wondering what is the best way to actually do some FPGA development on this board? I think I can put the bitstream file to SD card and let linux upload it to FPGA on boot but cannot find any information about this. Also someone on Reddit mentioned that you need JTAG FPGA programming cable from Xilinx. I guess this would be the best way to do the development? But the cable itself cost something like 80€ I think.

I've used Altera's development boards earlier which can be used with USB cable instead. Thank you!

SchDoc for EBAZ4205.PcbDoc

Do you have access to the PcbSch (schematic file) of the design?

We can obviously make do with the pdf export, but the actual design file would be welcome so that we can utilize cross-probing in Altium.

Mention Wiki + Github discussions in README.md

While the discussions feature has been enabled, I guess that people just assume that we don't use it and rather ask in the Telegram group.

Nothing wrong with that, but there are questions that pop up all the time, and some discussions that turn into long sagas which make the rest of the discussion hard to follow.

Linking these resources in the README.md would give the people a bit more confidence to start using them.

Frequency info

If I can correctly interpret the pics, the external crystal is at 25MHz, is this correct? Does the FPGA run at this frequency?

KG4205 VGA & UART/I2C Development PCB

S-n-T-y-Zynq7010-Ban-Ph-t-Tri-n-XC7Z010-FPGA jpg_q50

Do you have any info on KG4205 which adds to the EBAZ4205. It provides VGA and UART/I2C and a 9x2 2.54mm pin I/O connector which can attach optional OV767O camera.

FT232 schematic pin names

EBAZ4205/tree/master/HW/prog

It appears pin labels ACBUS[4-7] on pins 17-20 should be labeled ADBUS[4-7], as they are out of sequence and duplicated with pins 28-31

ACOI IC (U30)

Hi, in the Schematic, I found the ACOI IC (U30).
In the board, the IC named ACGI. Can you help me to find the PN of it?
Thanks

Purpose of the telegram channel?

I like the idea of having a chat, but I don't understand why it's read-only for everyone?

It would be nice if we can move some the discussion there, so that we don't litter github issues.

Or possibly even consider using a different communication channel
