Also, I would like to thank you again for writing this awesome plugin, it really feels like having a superpower!
It goes on all my midi tracks.

Hi Bart, automation works. At least what I tested. In Ardour. Automation of the level and the amp swing parameters works fine. In theory you can animate any parameter, including the MIDI messages and channels. But take care, not all automation makes sense.

Note: There is no automation of the nodes in the shape mode.

Sorry for the late reply, I was down with fever.

Turns out automation indeed works, but stops when you enable one of the link buttons.

Dank je wel, and you are right. Automation stops when you link plugin instances. And this makes sense.

First of all, the intention for making linked plugin instances is parallelization. With hardware tools, you can drag multiple sliders at once. More or less in parallel. Thanks to the two hands and ten fingers. This is impossible with mouse device-controlled digital tool. There you can only drag a single slider at a given time. Unless you can link the sliders.

But linked instances would get in conflict with automation. Think about this: automation drags down the slider of linked plugin instance 1 but drags up the slider of the linked plugin instance 2. In theory, I could add selectable or programmable rules to handle these conflicts, but then the plugin would become much too complex.

When you automate two or more of the same parameters at once, Chow Tape Model just lets the "local" automation override the linkage. The UI glitches a bit, but that's no problem, imho.
The other parameters can still be automated in that case.

I'd even be fine with that condition just breaking things, or showing an error on screen or anything really.

Would one of the above be a viable strategy for you?

PS: The reason I requested the link feature in the first place, is because I often want all instruments, or at least groups of instruments, to remain in perfect sync while I tweak the groove.
If I had a midi controller, I would still use links, cause as you said, the best you can do with them is "More or less in parallel".
