On a similar note, I also found that I needed the patches at https://anonscm.debian.org/git/collab-maint/squeezelite.git/tree/debian/patches/Makefile-tweaks.patch and https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=888335#14 in order to build successfully. Could these be incorporated?

Yes I will investigate including the manpage and those 2 patches this week.

I'ved applied the ffmpeg-4.0 patch and refactored the Makefile-tweaks patch to include the additional build options that were not apart of Triode's googlecode squeezelite. The debian squeezelite manpage is located in doc/. Note that the man page does not include the features added after Triode's 1.8 version.
