Same issue on Debian.
I think this bug should really be, emit some kind of warning or fatal error if squeezelite is already running. No doubt somebody somewhere is intentionally running multiple instances of squeezelite on the same host, BUT I think that squeezelite should refuse to start if it detects that it's already running.
If this too much of a breaking change, then how about only failing to start if it's already running AND with the same "MAC"?
Obviously the above would be subject to a parameter that the user can pass if they really do want multiple instances.

Running multiple copies of Squeezelite on the same host is done a lot.
For example - in piCorePlayer a second copy is run to provide Bluetooth output as a separate device from USB/HDMI/DAC-HAT
Some people with whole house audio do it from a single box with multiple audio devices ... with a Squeezelite for each ... and then wire the audio around the house rather than putting a player in each location.
