Question about squeezelite and aplay about squeezelite HOT 8 CLOSED

I have compared squeezelite with aplay and i found they sound different.

in which way?

Can you expain me why please ? What are doing squeezelite before sending to aplay ?

With those options, in principle squeezelite should do nothing different from aplay. Depending on the configuration LMS may do something, though.

I think squeezelite is more edgy.

LMS is configured to native playback so it isn't involved.

I found that the default buffer and period count are different
- 40/4 for squeezelite
- 500/4 for aplay

So maybe the difference comes from that.
I will do a new listen with the same buffer

With the same buffer, i noticed that squeezelite have some troubles with small buffer :

• with 500:4 in squeezelite witch is really small buffer -> the sound is chopped
• this correspond to the parameters --buffer-size=500 --period-size=125 in aplay -> the sound is OK

I have tried old binaries from https://github.com/LMS-Community/plugin-LocalPlayer/releases/tag/v1.6.5
and these is not problem with these buffer

I run the latest piCorePlayer ARM v6l squeezelite binaries almost constantly, and do not hear these buffer artifacts

Did you tried these buffer : 500:4:32:1 ?

Even with the same buffer, i made a few listenings and i think the sound quality in aplay is better.
