I'd be happy to commit a pull request with that feature.
The way I'd suggest to do this is to check if the state of the squeezelite player in LMS is playing and if so stop the player. This can be done using the cli or json.
For the alsa version of squeezelite, you will need to have the -C option enabled with a low value, say 2 seconds so the audio device is released.
