Seems like there is a requirement here on PortAudio but it currently doesn't build on OS X? The following GitHub bug reports die sometime in 2017 with no further progress:

Meh, I give up. I've managed to install PortAudio by hacking the ./configure but end in failure at the following:
Shareefs-MacBook-Pro:squeezelite sjalloq$ sudo make
cc -Wall -fPIC -O2 output_pa.c -c -o output_pa.o
output_pa.c:33:10: fatal error: 'pa_mac_core.h' file not found
