@nekr0z If it is as you say that is impossible I would suggest a "customization" option of some sorts where you can select white, black or even add your own icon.

No, no, I'm not yet ready to say that, I'm only saying that I need to investigate a little. ;-)

OK, it's complicated. Maybe in future I will add a way to point to custom icon, for now let's just have an icon that's visible on any background.

I see many software give the option of either multi-color or monochrome. Usually multi-color plays nicely with light themes.

The idiomatic Linux desktop way to do this would include shipping icons for different themes (color-inverted), and putting them to $XDG_DATA_DIRS/icons/$THEME/hicolor/ upon installation. I'm not a fan, since installation of such a simple applet looks seriously overkill to me. I might consider this further down the road when I get around to shipping .deb
s, since we ship udev
rules anyway.
Another way I envision is simply accepting a path to custom icon as a command line argument. Could do that when I have some free time. However, current (as of v1.2.2) icon seems to look acceptable on any background, so this is not the first priority.

FWIW I added a command line option to use a custom icon of your liking in v1.2.3.
