Now that we have the final structure (#69 and #70) and some translations, we can add the subtitles on Weblate.
I will create a new component called "Community", that will be used for selected translatable content made by the community.
@intj440 and @netrik182 if you are interested i could give you reviewer powers for the subtitles on Weblate. It would give you direct control over the work of translators.
please add new Indonesia translation for:

In the GUI localization you'll find:
'minera' (probably spelling error)
'minado'
'minería'
Other projects use 'minado' (haven't checked closely)
Asking the Google:
"minería de criptomoneda" - 29 000 hits
"minado de criptomoneda" - 4 240 hits
Let's have @lh1008 , @BlackLotus64 and any other natives make a decision and then update all instances at the same time.
please move and update the project to weblate, please.

today:
Hello Folks
I need somebody that speaks Chinese to translate ~1 page of text from English (today or tomorrow would be great). It is required to help a new exchange list Monero. Your contribution would be much appreciated :)
You can contact him at [email protected] so he can send you the document.
@Lafudoci @p1gd0g @bitOMG Any of you guys can help with this?
I also opened a task on Taiga
Hi guys,
The monero-wallet-gui
is using Monedero de solo lectura.
Some of the translations are suggesting a different translation:
Monedero de visualización or/and Monedero de solo visualización
What do you guys think?
The translation table indicates "sottoindirizzo", where "indirizzo" is used to translate the term "address".
How shall we move on it?
Monero's website (https://getmonero.org/) has some videos that are kept in English even when visiting the localized version of a page (e.g. the homepage). Actually there's no way for translators and other contributors to propose a localized version of the video. A member of the Brazilian Community did a voice-over and post-edit on the video translating it completely to Portuguese. We would like to use that video for the localized version of the homepage.
As anticipated during last Monero Community Meeting, i would like to organize a meeting of the Localization Workgroup.
The two main points will be:
If somebody wants to add other points or have comments, go ahead!
I would like to have an open discussion about this word.
I've seen several translations through the different texts already translated.
Settings
The monero-wallet-gui
is using opciones.
Found this sources with the translation for Settings
:
Spanishdict uses configuración for computing but has more translations for the word.
Microsoft Terminology uses configuración.
Wordreference gives several translations and definitions.
Google translator for the word "settings" by itself, gives the first translation for ajustes. When adding a word, e.g. "command" or "open", with the word "settings", it gives the translation configuración de comando; configuración abierta. I know we "shouldn't" be using google but gives more references.
What are your opinions?
The new GUI needs to be translated. The call for translators is on reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/bojcre/the_new_gui_for_the_next_release_is_ready_but_the/
Posting here as well for visibility and to make easier to ping contributors on GitHub if necessary.
Recently, a translator raised a concern about the use of Das wallet
in our German terminology. Monerujo uses Das wallet
while the GUI uses Die wallet
. This unconsistency is annoying and negatively affects UX.
We need to use one single version. There is no consensus on which form to use anfd @Leza89 strongly opposes to the use of Das. I, instead, would prefer it because gender neutral (in our guidelines is written that gender neutral terms are preferred) and according to linguist to be i contacted, also more correct.
One of the proposals to resolve the issue is to have 2 different translations: German, which would use Die wallet
and Austrian, which would use Das wallet
. I'm fine with adding an Austrian translation, i'm not if the only reason is that this a translator refuses to use any other terminolgy than the one they prefer.
Since this discussion degenerated and ended up with me being insulted and accused of not listening to translators (accusation that any memeber of the localization workgroup can analize by themselves), i'm going to take the lead here and contact linguists and communities of German translators, In the meantime, anyone is free to discuss which terminology they prefer to use and why. Feel free to gain consensus for one version of the other and participate to the discussion.
The point is that we won't have a language translated in two different ways. If there is no consensus on which term to use, i will make the final decision.
This issue will be used to track progresses and the final decision.

monero-project/monero-site#1780 is making Moneropedia entries translatable on Weblate. The PRs are slowly getting all merged. The .po and .pot files should be added on Weblate the same as it is now for user guides (https://translate.getmonero.org/projects/getmonero-user-guides/).
This is part of my CCS for working on getmonero.
Setup it based on PR #101
This is what's left of a todo file i had created to keep track of what needs to be done about the migration to weblate. Leaving it here so that others can make suggestions for improvements if they feel like it. I will update it.
This points are created according to my CCS proposal.
Hello,
Is there already a rule for the plural of monero ?
In french, we write "les euros, les dollars", etc.
So I would use "les moneros".
Do you consider that ok ?
The term stagenet is especially likely to be translated differently by different Chinese translators
Following are my suggestions
Mainnet 主网
Stagenet 预览网
Testnet 测试网
That will make easier uploading them to Weblate
@BlackLotus64 @lh1008 et al
Just some brief notes as I was looking thru it:
Stagenet | Fase de la red | Para discusión. Dejarla como está o traducirla
The main part of "stagenet" is "net" so a "stagenet" is a type of "net"' but your suggestion "fase de la red" has "fase" as its main part which wouldn't be correct (fase = stage). I think there are three "nets" in Monero: testnet (for testing), stagenet (for "staging" i.e "preparation for production") and mainnet (the actual live network and corresponding blockchain).
For Swedish, I'm considering leaving all three untranslated as if they were names. Just like we don't translate internet in the different languages
Wallet | Monedero | Se tomó "monedero" porque ya está siendo utilizado en la comunidad de Bitcoin
It appears that "cartera" is pretty common, too. But I remember at some point suggesting "monedero" because it's synomous with "cartera" and is a word that is similar in appearance to "monero". Sound cool to say "tengo monero en mi monedero". So I like the translation but maybe the motivation should be updated to say something about its likeness to "monero" (maybe you've discussed this elsewhere that I've missed)
Not translated
"blob" is an acronym for Binary Large Object and Microsoft Terminology database just lists it as "blob", so maybe that's it.
"nounce" - I'm pretty sure that you mean "nonce", which is a small value a mining software adds to a block when trying to solve it. Unfortunately I have no suggestion for a translation.
This is a test issue. Testing the notification bot in #monero-translations
I recently made a PR for the bisq website, i think would be cool to see some collaboration between Monero and Bisq, since, in my opinion, the 2 are complementary to each other.
We need a couple of strings to be translated:
Through last month
- context: We had 1000 visitors through last month
As of last month
- context: twitter users: 500. as of last month
The translation is needed in Spanish (@lh1008 @BlackLotus64 ), German (@rodolfo912 @Wobole), Portuguese (pt-pt) (@rmbb @vp11 @MalMen) and Chinese simplified (@Equim-chan @4broaf @hqwrong). Please provide the translation down here and i will add it to my PR, adding credits to the translators and the Monero community.
I want to contribute Vietnamese translation for GUI wallet, how can I do it?
Hi all,
During a translation, I realized the English-Italian translation table lacks the term "account".
Now, IMHO in Italian the term "account" can be translated in two ways, depending on the context in which the term is used:
For this reason, I propose to validate the translation "Account" => "Conto" where it is meant to indicate a "repository where transactions occur", however giving the possibility to keep "account" where a less specific "authentication set (username/password)" is addressed.
Migrating all terminology guides from Taiga to monero-translations
this will give us a better manageable commit history and will avoid the guide to be borked by contributors who mess up with markdown
