I tried running you app against my Friendica instance which should be statusnet compatible. I just learned that the GNU Social api implements statusnet amongst other things.

Are you targeting GNU Social as an API or really just the statusnet part?

Testing your app using my Friendica instance or your embedded test credentials both fail for me. On my friendica I find an URL request for /api/gnusocial/config.json HTTP/1.1 where my Friendica instance responds with a 501 not implemented.

If this is the only GNU social specific thing you are trying to do, them maybe this can be resolved. If you are targeting the GNU Social API itself and not statusnet, I may have to look elsewhere.
