The polyfill that @jonathantneal proposed in #28 doesn't require Polymer and will work on pretty-much any modern browser and can even be called <h>
. Perhaps we should simply adopt it? There are some potential issues we discussed but he did cover in that thread how to overcome them (e.g. styling).
I've not checked how it behaves with ATs (still) but I don't foresee any major issues.
