got IE styles working in demo page using hitch
from html5-h.
now keying styles off aria-level so don't need hitch or -wekit/-moz styles.
Note: use of [aria-level="x"] selector does not work in IE<10 so may need to look for polyfill.

Ah, yes, IE. Some good news, though: http://css-tricks.com/attribute-selectors/ says that IE down to version 7 supports [attr=value] selectors. Also Polymer only goes down to a fairly recent IE, so I think that is the major bottleneck.
However, if I'm wrong about that, I did find Selectivizr but the problem there is that you also have to bring in jQuery. If we need to fall back on this, then we'd need a way of bringing in Selectivizr and jQuery only if we are using a browser that absolutely needs it -- but hopefully no browser on which this element will run will need it.

Styling in IE appears to be working now -- possibly since the switch to using :host syntax in the web component's HTML. OK to close?
