scilifelab.github.io's Issues

Auto stargazers

Hi,

I noticed a pull request where you updated the stargazers count. I have never worked with Jeckyl, but would it be doable to update this value through the GitHub repositories API? The URI /repos/:owner/:repo should give you what you want.

For example: https://api.github.com/repos/robinandeer/chanjo will return all the information of the Chanjo repository and it has a field stargazers_count

Proper vector logo

I see you snuck in a rasterized SciLife logo in #7 :)

I've got the vector logo now from Camilla so I can commit a proper SVG version that will look good at any size/screen. I can also include the .sketch file.

Looks good with the logo the footer 👍

conversion error in css/main.scss

When I run jekyll serve --watch, I get this error:

Configuration file: /.../scilifelab.github.io/_config.yml
            Source: /.../scilifelab.github.io
       Destination: /.../scilifelab.github.io/_site
      Generating...
Conversion error: There was an error converting 'css/main.scss'.
jekyll 2.0.3 | Error: Invalid CSS after " webkit-image": expected ")", was ": -webkit- + $p..."

I have no idea how to fix that - the string "webkit-image" doesn’t even occur in the css/main.scss file. Any ideas?

The "SciLifeLab" logo is not the official one...

Great initiative with opensource.scilifelab.se ! We should get a link to it from the external SciLifeLab web site. I will ask Camilla Wernersson (the web site responsible) to fix that.

However: I am pretty certain she will have an issue with the non-official SciLifeLab logo used on the opensource page. I am attaching the official one, which I think should be used. The image is a bit large, don't know if there are smaller official ones, or if one has to shrink it oneself. Ask Camilla.

Responsive design

I believe the site works fairly well on smaller screens but it would be nice to do it properly at some point.

Intro: mention server running open source software

From Erik:
"all servers we have run open source operating systems ( *BSD and Linux )"

Perhaps we can add something about how we use and benefit from open source software and contribute back to the community.

I'll get around to it soon enough but anyone; feel free.

Modularize and em-ify SCSS

BEM, SMACSS, OOCSS - pick one and make som sense of the current SCSS prototype.

Would be nice to use ems/exs instead of pixels to prepare the site for making it responsive.
