getsong

This is a simple library that utilizes the rylio/ytdl YouTube downloader and ffmpeg to get almost any m4a of a song that you want to listen to. I wrote this so I could download m4as of my favorite Spotify playlists.

Disclaimer: Downloading copyright songs may be illegal in your country. This tool is for educational purposes only and was created only to show how YouTubes's API can be used to download music. Please support the artists by buying their music.

Install

go get -u github.com/schollz/getsong/...

Usage

The aim of this library to have a low (or zero) false positive rate, so it works best when the entered title + artist are spelled correctly.

Use as a program

$ getsong 'Getting in Tune' 'The Who'
Downloading 'Getting in Tune by The Who (W6-3rnD7FSc).webm'...

could not get youtube ID: no id found

It seems youtube related component needed to be updated.

Failing Build: cannot use f (type *ytdl.Format) as type ytdl.Format in assignment

When I try to go get this package, or when I try to import it in a golang script I see the following error

My golang skills are too weak to fix this...

Download directly to mp3

I have an old radio that plays only mp3 files, but getsong download only in .mka audio file.
Is there a way to download directly to mp3 and not in mka?

Problem downloading songs with / in name

For example: O/Modernt Chamber Orchestra - Within You Without You (arr. Johannes Marmén)

Error: getsong.go:230: Unable to fetch video info: invalid character ';' after top-level value

Hi,

when trying to download a playlist with spotifydownload, I get a lot of "getsong.go:230: Unable to fetch video info: invalid character ';' after top-level value"-errors.

Full debug log with sample playlist attached:

Any idea?

info.GetDownloadURL undefined

Hi,

during installation go get -u github.com/schollz/getsong/... I got the following message:

# github.com/schollz/getsong go/src/github.com/schollz/getsong/getsong.go:248:27: info.GetDownloadURL undefined (type *ytdl.VideoInfo has no field or method GetDownloadURL)

This is related to ytdl recent struct add.
