Firstly thanks for this contribution. I did not find much notes around why docker-registry originally in Python is ported to Go. What is the strategy on maintaining parity with the docker-registry API? Specifically wanted to know if the docker-registry as it stands has any problems or shortcomings.

Is the go-docker-registry compatible with the docker-registry API? We can point the tests from the docker-registry to go-docker-registry and check

I am wondering if we could add abilities to search for an image in this registry implementation? I understand that if we want to allow users to search via the docker client we will have to implement the registry search API.

But I guess it would be equally useful if we implement our own custom API for allows tools to search for images stored on S3.

Referring to Wiki page for showing comparison between Go docker registry and Python docker registry, investigate the failure of simple test case under Images test section.

I am getting checksum error while building base layer.
Probably you missed merging stabilize branch in master.

Making this pull request changes locally fixed it.
