Hmm... If you install imagesnap manually (brew install imagesnap
) and do imagesnap -l
does it list any devices?

imagesnap -l sees my iSight and iGlasses. iGlasses is a software wrapper around webcams that does things like rotating the input video--this lets me clip the iSight to the underside of the shelf above my screen but appear right-side-up in video chats and the like.

Hmm, if it's seeing the device, I wonder if the problem is perhaps the warmup time.
Try this: lolcommits --capture --test --delay=10
and see if the image it produces has a photo in it or not.
(if that solves it, the delay can be persistently bumped up via the LOLCOMMITS_DELAY
environment variable, let me know...)

Yep, that does it. Sorry, I feel dumb for not thinking of doing that.
After a bit of experimentation, it looks like it has to delay at least 2 seconds in order to warm up in time. Hopefully this will be a useful data point for a future FAQ or something.
