kvirc's Issues

Unable to open context menu

Reported by Dr-Saar on 10 Jul 2007 14:35:55 UTC
Hello,

using the latest KVIrc Snapshot for Windows (KVIrc-3.2.6-dev-20070629.exe), I'm not able to open the context menu at the channel's nicklist anylonger. It's still possible at the channel window itself and at the query window, but as I wrote, not at the nicklist.

Greetings,

Dr-Saar

Server/Channel window should stay consistent

Reported by mren on 17 Jul 2007 18:31:30 UTC
If I open a new server context, or the log viewer, or something else, that affects the server-window, the servers get ordered newly. This is annoying, because you have always to look where's the right context now -- you can't recall the "right" order -- and there is no way to re-arrange them manually.

Any plans to add kvirc alternate nicks?

Reported by mmodem on 01 Aug 2007 22:07:58 UTC
As discussed many time ago, it was said that kvirc should be fixed so that was
possible to have alternate nicks when conneting to different servers and not
just have a global nick, and globals alternate nicks.

Think kvirc should give user the option to have alternate nicks for each conection like for example exists in xchat.

The examples above cause KVirc to close unexpectedly

I'm running latest win32 snapshot (KVIrc-3.2.6-dev-20070817.exe) on Vista64. I've also tried the same snapshot on an XP32 machine, with same result.

alias /ignore is broken; popups "ignore" is working

Reported by ctrlaltca on 26 Nov 2007 13:38:36 UTC
From /ignore alias:

And finally set the property (use -n so the notify lists will be restarted)

reguser.setproperty $0 ignore 1

From ignore popups:
reguser.setproperty $0 IgnoreEnabled 1;
reguser.setproperty $0 IgnoreAll 1;

Maybe that alias should get updated to the new reguser properties?

window in window resize issue in OS X tiger

Reported by madmax_2069 on 19 Jul 2007 22:58:16 UTC
this is a fine peice of a IRC client. i have always wanted a irc client for Mac like this ( it reminds me of VIRC or MIRC)

but anyway the chat room window inside the main client window if you minimize it and maximize it the chat room window or any other window inside the main window is all garbled. the only way to fix it is to exit and restart. i am using KVIRC 3.2.6

this is sorta a make or break issue here and needs to be fixed. cause i like it cause its the only one like its kind for Mac. (i only wish there was a Mac OS 9.x version)

i am on OS X 10.4.10 tiger PPC

Notifying registered users has some issues.

Reported by mren on 24 Aug 2007 21:42:04 UTC
I have (for example) one registered user with this hostmask: Baldur_!~baldurs-n@_.t-dialin.net

But KVirc doesn't seem to recognize the hostmask, as I got this message:

[21:48:05] Baldur, Group "RCD" has left IRC as (Baldur [~[email protected]])

As you can see, the hostmask doesn't match, but KVirc notifies me about.

Another one: If the registered user (same mask as above) change his nick, I get a notification, that the user has leaved:

[20:36:49] Baldur [~[email protected]] is now known asBaldur|away

[20:36:49] Baldur, Group "RCD" has left IRC as (Baldur [~[email protected]])

But with that mask, the nick change shouldn't matter.

window size limit in KVIRC for OS X

Reported by anonymous on 19 Jul 2007 23:04:50 UTC
when you are running KVIRC and you open the settings window it goes way beyond what your set screen resolution is and there is no way to resize them. it sticks out so far below and to the right you cant see the ok, apply, cancel buttons on the bottom, and you cant see any options on the right side of the window.

plus when you are setting KVIRC up for the first time there are input fields you cant scroll to cause there is no scroll bar to get to those input fields.

keep up the good work cause its a great app. it just needs some more work to get the bugs ironed out of it

DCC Resume bugs

Reported by ruuk on 26 Oct 2007 10:47:06 UTC
First off, as always, thanks for KVIrc to all those who put their time
into it.

I'm getting ready to release an FServe script, and in the process of
writing it (it's about 12000 lines now) I've found a few bugs.
I am using the version I got from SVN on Oct 10 (20070817), but have had
the problems in earlier versions as well.

Most important to my script are some problems with the dcc.send command.
Anyway, when the FServe has been running for a while, sends begin to
fail to resume.
What appears to be happening is that kvirc is mixing up sends. It sends
the accept to the wrong nick which results in a timeout, or it sends the
accept to the correct nick with information from an old send which
results in an acknowledge error. Clearing the terminated sends in the
transfer window seems to alleviate this to some degree, but not
completely. Restarting kvirc fixes the problems. For example I can have
a resume fail ten times in a row, restart kvirc and it works.

Here is some console output and transfer log output to illustrate (I've
edited the filenames):
Where you see the no such nick/channel message that is in response to
the previous resume. As you can see the nick is wrong. Where you don't
see that the resume failed but the ACCEPT went to an online nick. I have
verified that the ACCEPT is going to the wrong person with the socket spy.

When it says the send was aborted, that is because the FServe aborted
the send either because of time or the no such nick message.

possible $sort/$rsort bug

Reported by ruuk on 26 Oct 2007 11:02:45 UTC
the $sort/$rsort commands seem to operate on the array index instead of
the values. %x[1] = a ; %x[2] = c; %x[3] =b; echo $rsort(%x); returns b,c,a
Shouldn't it sort on the value, otherwise what is the use of $sort which
essentially does nothing. Or am I missing something?

kvirc must not cancel KDE-shutdown

Reported by mren on 17 Jul 2007 18:12:06 UTC
If you choose to shut down your running kde session kvirc asks to close itself. If you answer yes here kvirc closes itself and cancels the kde shutdown afterwards. This behavious is annoying -- therefore I ask you to fix it.

Another nick completion possibility

Reported by faustov on 08 Jul 2007 16:43:57 UTC
I'd like to request zsh-like nick completion, which works like this:
Tab pressed once -> show possible matches for the current channel
Tab pressed once again -> complete the nickname with the first match
Tab pressed again -> complete the nickname with the next match (or wrap, if end of list)

So this is like having both, bash-like and normal nick completion.

Regards!

CTRL Backspace mis handling

Reported by assid on 14 Oct 2007 20:57:10 UTC
ctrl backspace should remove the last word in a loop format. As long as its pressed. It should do 1 word at a time and go backwards. Also if you hold ctrl and press backspace twice, it should remove the last 2 words. This is not happening. It seems to get stuck in the spaces

No NickServ authentication done if the service nick is different from "NickServ"

Reported by Soqaris on 31 Jul 2007 11:32:41 UTC
No automatic authentication can be done if the service's nick is not "NickServ", whereas it is possible to add a full mask in the nickServMask field (ie for the nick too, the exemple given in the tooltip is 'NickServ!@')

For instance : No authentication can be automatically done on irc.epiknet.net since NickServ's nick is "Themis"

The processing is blocked by:

kvirc\src\kvirc\sparser\kvi_sp_literal.cpp:

line 1117:

if(KviQString::equalCI(szNick,"NickServ"))

/option does not work on 3.2.6

Reported by HelLViS69 on 22 Aug 2007 14:26:02 UTC
If you try to clean KVIrc history by using $option, it will not save the configuration

Using:

/echo $option(stringlistRecentChannels)

/option stringlistRecentChannels (or /option stringlistRecentChannels "")

does not affect main.kvc

I've also tried with

/options.save

but nothing to do, main.kvc will not be saved and the variable still remains set

This bug was introduced with 3.2.6, as servers were splitted up in several networks

Add spell checking support

Reported by HelLViS69 on 30 Aug 2007 22:59:33 UTC
Why don't add a support for dictionaries as aspell or ispell?
In this way, KVIrc can underline some wrong words using the right dict loaded
eg: KVIrc in Italian with [ai]spell-it and so on
