Vim sublime

A ready to use minimal Vim (Sublime Text -like) .vimrc configuration

(Play Video)

Installation

vim-sublime includes Vundle package manager and some external plugins.

Install Vundle

$ git clone https://github.com/VundleVim/Vundle.vim.git ~/.vim/bundle/Vundle.vim

Install vim-sublime .vimrc

$ curl https://raw.githubusercontent.com/grigio/vim-sublime/master/vimrc > $HOME/.vimrc

Then open vim and run

:PluginInstall

Add the plugin colors

$ cd

$ git clone https://github.com/flazz/vim-colorschemes

$ mv vim-colorschemes/colors/ .vim

$ rm -rf vim-colorschemes

Quit and enter in vim again to apply the changes

You can also add machine specific config to ~/.local.vim

For best results make sure your $TERM env variable is 256 colours; export TERM=xterm-256color

Note: to have the correct font in the bottom bar you need a Powerline font installed and selected in the terminal.

Features included and Shortcuts

The shortcuts should work in vim (terminal with 256 colors) on Linux, Mac OS X and Windows (I'm joking, I don't know).

Everywhere

  • Ctrl + p - Open other files in the folder
  • Ctrl + f - Find text in the document
  • Ctrl + z - Cancel
  • Ctrl + y - Redo
  • F1 - Snippets

Selection - after (Esc + v) or (Shift+ v)

  • Ctrl + c - Copy
  • Ctrl + x - Cut
  • Ctrl + v - Paste
  • Ctrl + m - Comment / Decomment
  • Ctrl + w + <tag> - <tag>Wrap text</tag>
  • Tab - Indent text
  • Tab + Shift - Reindent text

An alternative way to comment is Ctrl + v (Visual-block mode) then Shift+i add the commenting characters (es. //) and press Esc.

To decomment, Ctrl + v, select the part you want to delete at the beginning of the line and press d.

Tabs

  • Ctrl + t - New tab
  • Ctrl + k - Close tab
  • Ctrl + b - Previous tab
  • Ctrl + n - Next tab

vim-sublime's Issues

Cannot start ycmd server

YCM plugin doesn't start automatically, it's because missing module somewhere in ycm config :) , i don't know what exactly is going on but i found solution ;) :

cd ~/.vim/bundle/YouCompleteMe
./install.py --clang-completer

Problem with Monokai

Hi,
I've a problem wiith Monokai color schemes
I found it in .vim/bundle/vim-colorschemes/colors/Monokai.vim
But vim can't load it...

[feature-req] CTRL+SHIFT+F for advanced search?

A great feature in Sublime is the Advanced search (that allows filtering folders, file types, regex, regex replacement..), would be great to find a matching vi plugin that could be triggered by that shortcut.

Is there a roadmap for this (or for other features, for that matter)?

Do I need to install Monokai

You say 'Don't worry about the 'Monokai' error' but after the tutorial you gave, each time I used vim I have had this error at the beginning until I installed https://github.com/lsdr/monokai.

Is it a lack in your tutorial or I have misunderstood it or misconfigured vim

the paste command doesn't work

Hi

I can't figured how I can paste with the tutorial you gave in README.md
either 'ctrl+p' or 'ctrl+v' don't work

Only the key 'p' in vim works (default command)

How can I install other plugins?

Hi,

I installed vim-sublime for my rails development. How can i install other plugins as well along with these? ex('jiangmiao/auto-pairs', tpope/vim-endwise).
I tried by adding these to my .vimrc and Bundle Installed but couldn't see those working.

Can anyone help me with this.
