Publish meetup branding

We should publish (in this repository?) the meetup branding (logos, meetup.com banners, etc). This allows amendments and suggestions from the community

Look into making our finances public

For the sake of transparency, this could shed some light into how much money the meetup receives and how it is spent. It should make attendees and sponsors more confident, as they would have all the information available.

We first need to check whether the current (and future) sponsors would be fine with disclosing that information. That is, what quantities they've transferred into our account for each month's sponsorship.

Look into recording videos of talks

For this, we'd need:

  • A decent camera and a tripod
  • Microphones, at least a couple
  • An organiser who can do the job on the day
  • An organiser who can edit the footage to upload it to YouTube

Potentially, we could use the venue's camera and microphones, if they have any. However, given that venues in Sheffield tend to be small, it's likely that many won't have all we need.

Add organiser handbooks

We could start with:

Treasury:

  • Finding new sponsors
  • Current sponsorship tiers and amounts
  • Invoicing and renewing sponsors
  • Keeping track of the finances
  • Using the bank account and debit cards

Social Media:

  • Writing style and general tips
  • Tweeting about upcoming events
  • Tweeting during events
  • @-mentioning speakers and sponsors

Speakers:

  • Rules for talks; 15 minutes, etc
  • Use of a form to receive applications
  • Encouraging new and recurrent speakers
  • Mentoring speakers who need it

Event running:

  • Handling of our only venue so far
  • Planning and announcing future events
  • Preparing the MC slides
  • General tips on opening and closing each meetup
