@jryans: would you be interested in working on a demo for this in this repo?
If yes, then please see the README for instructions on how the demo should be formatted: https://github.com/mozdevs/devtools-demos/blob/master/README.md
Having a demo would make it really easy to communicate about the feature on various channels, and then make it easy too when we prepare our hacks post when devedition goes out.

Okay, I'll try to assemble something here! @sole, any video encoding tips, like specific resolution or quality / bit rate? Not sure if it matters or not. Probably don't want to blow up the repo with massive files at least...

Yay! I was thinking there should be a section on the README explaining this - capturing software, etc. I'm prepping for a conf right now, but I will go back to this in more detail later. In the meantime:
For the video I avoided exporting the super 4K resolution I recorded it with, as it's too much. I should probably have removed the audio channel too - my fault. I didn't use any specific resolution other than 'try to make it at least past 960px wide', otherwise YouTube renders really awfully.
I used ScreenFlow to capture and minimally edit (mostly just cut out the boring bits).
