kicad-3rd-party-tools's Issues

New tool KiPadCheck

Not sure how to do pull requests or work with github, but there's a new tool in development:
KiPadCheck
https://github.com/HiGregSmith/KiPadCheck

KiPadCheck provides additional basic DRC checks to KiCAD
and lists to make tweaking pads for stencil creation easier. Functions include pad list, drill list, drill to drill spacing check, drill to track spacing check, stencil aperture check vs. stencil thicknesses, stencil aperture width vs. paste type, silk overlap of copper.

Suggestion: KiCAD5 badge

I propose adding a KiCAD5 badge (something like ), and add it to the tools that are known to work with KiCAD5 but NOT with KiCAD6.
That way, users of this list of tools do not have to navigate to the tool repository/site, to try to figure out if it works with KiCAD6 or not.
I would be happy to go through the list and determine if each tool should be badged KiCAD5, after which the only "badge-less" tools will be the ones where it is difficult to determine which version of KiCAD the tool supports.

One thing to consider: should tools that work with both KiCAD6 and KiCAD5 (possibly an earlier tool release) be badged with both versions, or should the KiCAD5 badge only be used as a warning to KiCAD6 users not to bother looking at the tool?

KiCAD Part Manager out-of-date

Describe the malfunction
KiCad Part Manager appears not to have been updated since 2016. It uses deprecated wxPython items (as of wxPython 4). Unless someone decides to update it, it should probably be removed from the list. It also only claims compatibility with KiCAD4, but I did not get far enough to see if it will work with KiCAD5.

To Reproduce

  1. Install packages, including setting up the mysql database
  2. run python2 -m kicadpartman.py in the kpm directory.
  3. go to Kicad menu, select "Assign Part to Schematic"
  4. See deprecated item errors in terminal

Expected behavior
open a dialog box to select the file.

Desktop (please complete the following information):

  • OS: MacOS 10.15.5
  • KiCad version: 5.1.5-0-10-14
  • External tool name and version: kpm 0.1
