DSS Community Site

Since the beginning of the Data Science Specialization we've noticed the unbelievable passion students have about our courses and the generosity they show toward each other on the course forums. A couple students have created quality content around the subjects we discuss, and many of these materials are so good we feel that they should be shared with all of our students. This site is meant to serve as a central directory for community created content.

Contributing

If you've created a web page, video, slideshow, or any other kind of media you think should be shared through this directory you should:

Fork this repository.
Add a link to your content on the appropriate course page.
Commit your changes.
Submit a pull request.

We've created a sample pull request to show you what we would like to see in a pull request. If we think your creation is well made, informative, and adds something new to this repository of content then we'll merge your request and add you to our list of contributors. If you happen to notice any inaccuracies or idiosyncrasies on this site or in this site's content, please let us know by opening an issue.

If you are not the author of the content you are submitting you are welcome to add your link to the Curated Knowledge page. We've created this page specifically so that you can share data science resources that you've found useful.

Request to change the link to my resource

Hello,

On the following page:

the Shiny Simulation tutorial link takes you to a an app that is hosted on my shinyapps account. A lot of people have been checking it out -- to the tune of about 600 user-hours per month. I feel the need to reduce this figure, so I wonder if you could instead link to my GitHub repo URL:

The repo's README file contains instructions on cloning the repo and running the app locally. Coursera folks who are not GitHub users (presumably there are very few of these) would still have the option to view the remotely-hosted app.

Swirl package

Hi,
Often I observed that during swirl classes, the module expects you to write the code in exactly the same way the module was built to accept. Example

filter(cran,size>100500 & r_os=="linux-gnu")
filter(cran,size>100500 , r_os=="linux-gnu")
both the above codes yield same result, but only 2 is accepted as corrected and allows to proceed further. It would be great if module accepts any code that yield correct results rather than expecting exact code it needed.

Secondly, when we try ntimes and cant get the answer, there should be an option to proceed further by showing the solution to problem where we struck. This way we can give n attempts and continue further when we no more solve the problem.
