Describe the bug
As already mentioned in one of the user ratings I have the same problem with fuzzy fonts. I am using Windows 10 and a fresh install of Thunderbird 78.5.0 64bit. I installed the Theme right from the Thunderbird Addons.
Especially in bold text it is very blurry, I hope this is visible (see screenshot).
For comparison, a screenshot without theme:

It would be good to be able to change the background of the multimessageview.xhtml view. I see the multiMessage.css but it doesn't get injected or set into the CSS of the pane.
Hi!
Well done on this theme! Really happy I found it.
However, I would like to make some changes to hightlight color and font size, but I can't seem to find the file you mention anywhere on my computer. I have 0 programming skills, so any idea where I could find it? (did an overall search, combed through library etc.)
Thanks for any help.
For me it halfs the number of displayable messages if not using vertical layout (like in the original mockup)
I guess that is somehow a wanted behaviour. But it would be great if someone could comment on this bug how to revert this styling of the message list for people using the classical layout. (And just love the colours of the theme.)
Hello Conema!
Sorry for reaching out to you like this. I wanted to ask if you could give a look at my Zotero userChrome.css and maybe help me fix some issues with it.
Zotero is based on Firefox so it has a lot in common with Thunderbird.
Here's the link:
https://github.com/Rosmaninho/Zotero-Dark-Theme
This is from the discussions in #31 - adding here so it doesn't get forgotten about :-)
It would be useful to have a configuration option so that the height of the message list can match the folder tree height (or can be configurable). The default is
--message-list-row-height: 40px;
--folder-tree-row-height: 25px;
For me, either setting them both to 1.5rem;
or setting --message-list-row-height: 25px;
produces a more readable display.
Reference: #31 (comment)
Does not seem to work with Thunderbird Beta 73 or 74.
The xpi could be installed and shows up in the extension Folder, but the theme is not applied.

I know some CSS and I would like to contribute by fixing small issues here and there, but I don't know how to start. It would be great to have a few links or a small part of the README describing how to start (mainly how to test it and what to use as reference for elements).
Any contribution guidelines would also be very nice!
Thunderbird 78 is now the latest available stable release. Unfortunately, this add-on is not compatible.
These are the changes that need to be made: https://developer.thunderbird.net/add-ons/updating/tb78
I think that humans are more image oriented than text; Maybe for this the montreal mockups show contact photos.
Anyway Ii guess this would be hard to do because load too many photos in a huge inbox could be hardware intensive and some times freeze the application.
There would be some kind of load photo contacts only for the already showned messages on the panel list to reduce resource memory usage for example.
The symbols for junk status in list view are all black no matter which status.
When I disable monterail dark, then these icons have different colors according to junk status.

I am aware that you plan to finish the dark theme first, but I thought it good to have an issue for the full dark theme.
Great on you for forking the theme btw, the other repo was pretty much dead.
Some Greek characters in the subject of the mail, as displayed in the message list pane, are not properly aligned. For example, letters π,Δ and Ω:
Also, most Greek characters seem "bold", compared with the Latin ones.

I've updated to thunderbird 68, thus the themes (I use MONTERAIL DARK) are no longer working. Unfortunately I cannot find any "manual/howto" which guides me in creating a theme with webExtensions 8what seems to be standard now) :/ thus, can you point me to some resource, which would help me in transferring you great theme in the new format? or did you already started doing this?
Cheers
Jörg
Hello,
I know this is not an issue, but would you please mention that how can I change the Orange color in the new version ?
I am using 68.2.2
By the way A GREAT THANK YOU for updating this theme for the new TB.
Wish you a merry Christmass and a great new year.
All the best,
Al
Hello,
I found the next issue.
The arrow indicating threaded conversation is missing.
To reproduce it simply install the thunderbird extension and display threads messages.
Obtained rend with Monterail dark :
Expected render like in default template :
I'm not sure this is not the normal awaiting renderer.
Since you forked the Monterail theme from Paenglab I also commented in this bug in Bugzilla about the same issue that is present in your versions of the theme:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1325184
When Thunderbird is maximized in full screen, the tab bar cuts of the active tab highlight and the minimize, maximize and close buttons are also misaligned since when you hover with the mouse over them, the hit box is larger than the actual buttons..
It seems there's some minor misplacement in that case.
This is visible in Windows 10.
Beautiful theme for 78.6.0! A small problem: In the folder pane, the orange highlight of the folder displayed in the message list pane disappears when the folder pane loses focus (unless hovering over the active folder name). This prevents the user from knowing which folder is open unless he clicks on the folder pane. This is not the behavior of the native default theme. Can the highlight be made to stick (even with an alternate color)?
Hello, I’m a user of this theme now for years but something isn’t making sense to me at all: The colors of the scrollbar and its 'empty scroll space' are illogically inverted. On most OS’, the scrollbars have a darker color tone than their scroll space. This theme has inverted this paradigm: The scrollbar is lighter than its scroll space.
Hello again. I've noticed after a recent TB update (60.0b11) on Mac my Calendar is darkened by your theme where it previously was not (or maybe you did an update?). Either way, it now looks like this in my calendar list:
I've blurred out some things because they contain personal information. But basically 5 of the 7 calendar names have a white row background with white font, so I can't see those unless I click on the calendar name and the background turns orange.
Describe the bug
The composition toolbar is dark, but there is a line above it that is light, making the theme not smooth on Unity (Ubuntu 16.04). Screenshot:
Expected behavior
This line should also be dark, creating the same smooth effect as with the default system theme.

Describe the bug
A clear and concise description of what the bug is.
The theme takes about 3-4 seconds to load. I am not sure whether we can call this a bug. But I am using Ubuntu 18.04 and for a few seconds after starting, the default theme stays. After a few seconds, Monterail dark comes in. I am not complaining, but if you can fix it in some way, that would be great.

I'm running Thunderbird 68.6.0 (32-bit) using Monterail Full Dark v2.1. If you open the Today Pane and switch to a view that includes tasks (such as Events and Tasks), the task part of the pane is only colored dark where there is a task.
Not a huge issue, but I think the intent of the theme is to have the color all the way through the pane. Love the theme though!
I am using Windows 10 and Thunderbird 60.0, but the plugin doesn't work on my system. Everything is just the default theme (and yes, it is activated and I have tried restarting and reactivating a lot of times)
Describe the bug
Thunderbird supports threaded conversations by default (see documentation), grouping messages together. When a thread is collapsed, a title bar appears where the subject, sender etc would normally be.
In this theme, this bar seems to not be configured yet. The buttons are light on a dark background and there is a light line separation between the folder list and this bar in the classic view.
I think it would be best if the thread bar remained in a light color, in the same style as the single messages.
Expected behavior
The thread subject bar should be the same color as the single emails subject bar.

Like the title, we need someone to check if there are problem with the dark theme in linux/macos and with versions >52.0 and <60.0 of thunderbird
Fonts are too big in message window, and the listing of accounts. Running TB 60 on Debian Sid Linux.
Hi,
I don't know why, but I can't find the extension that was provided (through #31) from within Thunderbird:
And when disabling the version filters:
Two things: should we enquire with the Thunderbird people why this might be happening? And can you add a link to the new addon to the old addon's description?
Thanks!
Monterail Dark 2 for TB>68 is using a less bold unread mail font choice than the old one. It’s difficult to see which one are read an which one are unread.
Please choose a bolder font setting.
I’m experiencing this on Thunderbird 78.4.3, Monterail Dark 3.1, Arch Linux, KDE Plasma with standard Breeze theme.
The theme should also be applied to Lightning tab
Hello,
First I wanted to mention that this is not an issue/bug.
As I asked you before, I would like to customize this theme which by far because of several reasons is one of the best Thunderbird themes.
This is what you mentioned (for those who might have the same question):
Go where your application data are stored, they usually can be found in:
- Windows: C:\Users[your windows user]\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles[(literally) random letters and numbers].default/
- Linux: /home/[your linux user]/.thunderbird/[(literally) random letters and numbers].default/
- MacOS: /home/[your macos user]/Library/Thunderbird/Profiles/[(literally) random letters and numbers].default/
Go to the "extensions" folder, here there should be a file named "[email protected]", open it with a zip tool. Go to chrome\MonterailOverlay\css\ and open root.css, in the 21th row you should find "--tree-background-color-selected: #F07746;", change " #F07746" with the color that you want.
Now my question is, will the colors change again if I update this theme ?
And would you please mention if this would be possible to put some options which users would be able to customize the css via the UI of thunderbird ?
Thank you again for the time you have put to make this theme. Thunderbird seems to be abandoned and really needs developers to update the UI to 2019.
Wish you the best.
I really want your theme to work because I love the original by @spymastermatt but I couldn't find out how to get the Quick Filter bar to look normal - It was always too hard to read. In your version, the Quick Filter bar is legible, but the message list is not after clicking the message and rolling the mouse out. I'll give examples via screenshots, but if you need more clarification please let me know. By the way, great work!
I'm running OS X 10.13.6 and Thunderbird 60.0b10.
Original theme with white on light gray Quick Filter bar:
Reproduce problem in this theme:
Go to folder or Inbox with multiple messages. At first, it appears normal.
Click a message, the row is highlighted, but then you roll your mouse away from the message title row:
This behavior is when Thunderbird is the foreground app. If I click on the desktop or another window, the message list looks like it does in # 1.
Hi, I'm using the theme after Thunderbird's 78 update on my linux deskop (mainly Plasma).
I made some improvement in my userChrome.css:
Remove ugly font shadows (maybe is related to my GTK theme, but it was unreadable):
* { text-shadow: none !important; }
:root[lwtheme-image]:-moz-lwtheme-brighttext { text-shadow: none !important; }
Changed colors to folder with new mail (to easily find in the tree folder):
#folderTree > treechildren:-moz-tree-cell-text(isServer-true, biffState-NewMail) { font-weight: bold !important; color: #343434 !important; }
#folderTree > treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(folderNameCol, newMessages-true) { font-weight: bold !important; color: #343434 !important; }
#folderTree > treechildren:-moz-tree-cell(isServer-true, biffState-NewMail) { background-color:#19aab3 !important; }
#folderTree > treechildren::-moz-tree-cell(folderNameCol, newMessages-true) { background-color:#19aab3 !important; }
Changed colors for new and unread mail in threadview:
#threadTree > treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(unread) { font-weight:bolder !important; color: #343434 !important; }
#threadTree > treechildren::-moz-tree-cell(new) { background-color:#19aab3 !important; }
#threadTree > treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(neww) { -moz-appearance: none !important; color: #343434 !important; font-weight:bolder !important;}
Thanks :)
