You need to choose your range / pixel range value so that the relevant area of your image has values between 0 and 1, anything else will get cut off when converting to 24-bit color formats such as PNG. The floating point bitmap structure is capable of representing values even outside this range, and if you wish, you may even keep it in this format, and use a floating point texture for example.

I see, So it is ok that some values are negative - they get cut off. It now works better. I will need to play with the parameters little bit more, there are still some accuracy problems, but this seems to be ok. Thanks, JK.
