This is my analysis of the current situation with the latam civs:
1 being very weak and 5 being very strong, 3 balanced.
Argentina:
- The national ability, altough it looks weak, it has remained strong, and even more with the current sheep meta, not counting 'Godess of Open Sky' and the Capybara, which make pastures better and more plentyful.
- Tango Theatre is very nice, giving some delicate hapiness.
- Gaucho is a pretty useful unit, and with the right strat using its loss of penalty against cities, can be strong.
- Estancia is very strong buff for the Stable
- Pucará is a bit lame, but...
- All togheter makes of Argentina a pretty solid civ. 3/5
Bolivia:
- A very good civ to go for Cultural Vic. and wide, specially conquering, gaining Happiness from various places along with culture.
- The Colorado is not so special, but it is ok with the rest of the basic kit.
- The Llama building is good, tho dependent on location, but in this case is worth it.
- Lithium mine is both very late and extrematedly depended on Salt even appearing on the map. Should be changed.
- Overall is good, but the 3&4 section needs some improvements. 3/5
Brasil:
- Brasil is a solid civ on the right conditions, with its NA giving a lot of bonuses on vegetation, specially of culture, togheter with the garden, make the Sambadrome very strong.
- The cascavel is abit lame, but as the rest is very strong, then it doesnt matter.
- Bandeirante is a fun unit.
- It's very weird, as Brasil can be really good, but more often than not, you are forced to cut down the vegetation for resources, this makes it like a shot on the foot. So I'm not sure, 3/5
Chile:
- After the change of the Saltpeter office to replace the Windmill, Chile has been better. Now with the Atacama Telescope, Chile can trive in the desert much more. It's units are nice.
- The -15% Golden Age duration is innecesary, On a good spawn, 3,5/5, if not, 2,5.
Colombia:
The change to +1 Food from Farms next to Mountains turned out to be a hugemongus mistake.
For one, there is almost never a tile where you can build a Farm that is next to a mountain. The only ocassions, are the rare flat land next to it, and the rare river crossing by.
This area should be brought back as it was before.
On the other hand, the Hacienda, if you do not get Coffee nor Farm next to Mountain, it is a trash building.
About the rest, they are good.
Overall Colombia is double dependent on Mountains and Coffee, this is a big weakness, as without it, half or 40% of it bonuses are gone.
Cuba:
Cuba, gameplay wise, is pretty decent.
3 free polices are no small deal, and having a unique luxury gives you certain advantage.
The Guerrillero is of questionable use, but fun.
2,5/5
Ecuador:
Ecuador looks very strong, but in practice it is not so much.
For starters, a lot of mountain bonuses, which, weakness.
Its units are good, specially for a civ who is tall oriented.
The Banana corporation is only good if you happen to have Bananas, which doesn't happen a lot, yes its more frecuent than other resources, but of 10 games, only 3 I had bananas.
The Central Plaza is like a wine, gets better over time, it is not as strong, but its free manteinance and you get culture later, so its is good.
1 Culture for coast is nice, but Sea tiles are known for not being good. This can help a bit, but i think it should do something else.
Overall, it lacks strenght, so 2/5.
Salvador:
Right on, 2/5.
Slavador is a very good civ for newbies who struggle with barbarians (or when playing with the barbarians mod).
Barabarians only stay until mid game, after that most of the land is on check and no more barbarians appear.
Both buildings come on the late game, but thier bonuses supply somewhat that.
The Post, may be a bit strong, so that may balance out the rest. If it erent for the post, Slavador would be terrible.
Even still, the post cant carry all, so Salvador needs some buffs.
Mexico:
Mexico'´s NA makes the Trading Post much much versatile, and all on all, their units are a force to recon with, specially on defense.
4/5
Panama:
Oh Panama, gameplay wise its a 1/5.
It's units are not very usefull, but they would be good, if only there was a building or the NA who supplied its weakness.
There is'nt really anything to actually help you on the game, just one unit for conquest and other for defence.
The most plain civ of all.
Paraguay:
The NA is solid
The cannon solid as well
Aca Vera, solid as well
First of Line, useful for when they attack you and you are no prepared, altough hard to unlock.
But both the Hacienda and the conservatory are only different when they have rivers, which is not so good, but the rest of uniques supplies its lackings, to certain extend.
A 3/5, but not yet there, needs some buffs to the building to be a right 3/5.
Peru :
4/5, pretty solid civ
A lot of food, good Explorer, good unit (altough it will be changed).
Good buildings. Peru is a very good civ.
Venezuela:
Very militaristic. With Oil you can make more ships, planes, tanks.
Happines from Oil is very unique, altough not very strong.
The school is very good, specially for a domiation victory.
The Patriot army extra mobility comes in handy.
and the Militia is just so good. So much so that AI only builds that XD
The Guri and Tiuna are a bit palid, but they get suplemented with the rest.
An almost 3/5, NA and guri should be reworked to be a good 3/5.
