This isn't really a question, but simply how to do it since a few people have problems.

This is what I did, download the latest Visual Studio (I actually had this preinstalled) and ensure you get the C++ tools.

when opening the project in this repo, let visual studio upgrade to the latest SDK.

Build!

All you need is the output executable, when it saves its settings it will put a ini file next to the executable. If you always want to run it, Then add it to your startup

Main reason I needed to do this is I needed to filter out some keys as it doesn't deal with remapped keys very well, in my case I have remapped CapsLock to Esc using autohotkey. This tool shows that both keys are pressed so I filtered out capslock from being shown.

Although there are text instructions in the md file, there is no official license file, and the code is still "All Rights Reserved"

I'm getting an error code: error MSB4019. Google machine didn't help much.

I've just installed VS and everything is up to date. Any help would be appreciated.

I moved the entire folder to another location and after a while, the folder at the oldest location comes back with log files.
It doesn't matter if I exclude them, they continue to be created.

After days of digging, I found this tool. I had huge trouble building, though. I found a binary here, but I would prefer a binary from the repo. I would trust it a million times more... please provide it here. It would be awesome! Thanks! It's an amazing tool!

Maybe I'm a little thick, but I didnot find a way to close the program without the task manager. Maybe a good thing to add to the config dialog?

Hello, can you add new features?
For example, the keyboard and mouse operations are displayed in a specific window, and are not displayed after switching to another window.
It is inconvenient to display the keyboard and mouse operation through the alt+b switch.

I'm trying to set up Ctrl + F12 as the hotkey for toggling capture. But it seems like it only accepts printing keys (e.g. "f") for hotkey.

Can you make it so that it takes non-printing keys as well (e.g. F12)?

Hi. Would you please write more specific instructions, how to build your software? I dont exactly know what to do with "msbuild /p:platform=win32 /p:Configuration=Release". Thank you. :)

I usually record screen casts on my secondary monitor but the OSD of your tool is showing up only on my primary screen. It would be nice if I could change the screen on which the OSD appears in settings or such.

I'd like to ignore certain keys: when A-Z, a-z is pressed (without CTRL, WITHOUT ALT, etc.) I'd like to display nothing.

Where can I do this? Around https://github.com/brookhong/KeyCastOW/blob/master/keylog.cpp#L220 I guess, but where exactly? What line should I add/modify?

I usually use KeyCastOW for presentations or meetings, and when i keep my mouse wheel scrolling up or down to turn pages, the messages would quickly cover the full screen. Then my content would be blocked, that’s kind of inconvenient.

My changes were pushed on the fork KeyCastOW_modify

(Not a native English speaker, sorry if i make grammar or spelling mistakes)

The application does not show a combination of ctrl-letters.

• You can find the PlatformToolset by run: msbuild /version
• Actually , I use Visual C++ 2015 MSBuildTools , the PlatformToolset is v140 , maybe your is v141 , v120 and other.

Hold Down to Repeat Off makes really stop of repeating keys on text input programs.
Couldn't stop repeating just on display?
Or it would be good only if Arrow keys could be stopped on display,
Because Normally actually Holding Down of Arrow keys delete all of others on key display.
