--shots's Issues

Blur tool (at least) cannot be used in a right-to-left way

How to reproduce

  1. Prepare to edit a screen shot
  2. Select blur tool
  3. Select the rightmost point (preferably both the top-most and the bottom-most, in different attempts)

Expected behavior

Move the blur rectangle towards the left side and cover that side. Follows mouse

Actual behavior

Tool simply adds the (dx, dy) towards the right side. Mirrors mouse actions

  • Operating system: Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS
  • --shots version: shots (1.2.0)

shots.desktop does not pass desktop-file-validate

desktop-file-validate says:

shots.desktop: error: value "Graphics" for string list key "Categories" in group "Desktop Entry" does not have a semicolon (';') as trailing character

If you are using electron-builder, please make sure you update to the latest version.

Text tool

How to reproduce

  • Create text
  • Font-size ++++
  • Press enter

Expected behavior

Big text

Actual behavior

Dead screenshot

  • Operating system; MacOS
  • --shots version: v1.0.2

First of all need to reproduce

Not working using Gnome and Wayland.

How to reproduce

Run a Linux Gnome desktop using Wayland instead of X

Expected behavior

Screenshots work

Actual behavior

Just get a black screeen

  • Operating system:

Antergos Gnome using Wayland

  • --shots version:

V1.2.0

FWIW I think this is a Wayland problem rather than a --shots issue, but logging it here just in case others are wondering....

Should probably add I've changed from LightDM to GnomeDM on Antergos. Pretty sure LightDM is still using X, but changing to GDM uses Wayland.

Copy to clipboard option

Dear @binjospookie,

Another idea. :-)

In the final menu after you are done editing, can we add an option to "copy to clipboard" in addition to "Save" to disk?

Often, I don't actually need to save it to disk but quickly want to reuse it from the clipboard, e.g. to paste it into Github. :-)

Yours,

Robert

32 bit binary (deb)?

I am using Ubuntu 16.04. It would be nice if we can have 32 bit binary for Ubuntu/Debian.

Not working at all on Ububtu 18.04

Thanks for writing this software. There really is a need for something like this to annotate images, especially with arrows and text. Unfortunately, it doesn't work on Ubuntu 18.04 at the moment.

How to reproduce

Install/run either the .deb or AppImage.

Behaviour

The shots icon flashes in the dock, but then disappears, and is inaccessible.
Running ps -ef shows that the shots process is still running.

Environment

  • --shots version: 1.2.0
  • Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS
  • 4.15.0-39-generic GNU/Linux
  • Gnome 3.28.2

Unable to run on Ubuntu

Have downloaded and installed your deb file for Ubuntu but cannot run it at all. There are warnings and errors in the syslog:

apt-get?

Can you make it apt-get installable for Ubuntu distros?

Enhancement: Select the new screenshot area

Select the new screenshot area (interactively and allowing to retry before "commiting"), instead of simply taking all screens

I am not sure what else to add :/

  • Operating system: Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS

Ability to escape from "saving" mode

How to reproduce

For example you try to save shot and turn off the internet at the moment.

Expected behavior

There should be possibility to abort saving by pressing esc button.

Actual behavior

New setting: close to minimise?

Dear @binjospookie,

I actually never want to close shots.

What do you think of an optional setting to minimise shots instead of closing it when the user clicks on the "x" in the window corner?

Minimise shots when clicking on this x:

Add a file dialog

Currently screenshots are saved to the default folder. It will be great if you add a file dialog, where I can input filename, choose a folder to save, file's extension.

Help menu does not open

How to reproduce

On the screenshot-editing screen, press F1

Expected behavior

Some kind of help opens. Preferably with the --shots version clearly stated

Actual behavior

Nothing appears to happen

  • Operating system: Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS
  • --shots version: shots (1.2.0)
