Support for dynamically linked Firefox and Thunderbird?

No Networking on Virtualbox

I'm currently testing JanusLinux on Virtualbox 5.2.18 r124319 (macOS High Sierra Host) and I can't get networking to work on BETA 5 release of JanusLinux. I have followed the guide by modifying /etc/network/interfaces by adding iface enp0s3 inet dhcp with enp0s3 being found by typing ifconfig -a | less. I tried all the Intel Pro Adapter Types and the PCnet ones don't even show up at all. What should I do?

"Featured" snapshot with working GUI?

I just read about ataraxia on reddit. It looks very interesting.

I download the snapshot here:

https://github.com/ataraxialinux/ataraxia/releases/download/200705/ataraxialinux-x86_64.iso

Noticed it was only 51MB. I assume it does not come with xorg or wayland and stuff.

I tend to need them though, also a browser. Is there a possibility to provide a slightly
larger snapshot? Not asking for something that may be massive, mind you, but
I would not mind something like icewm + xorg mostly as I find this to be more convenient
to work with.

Comparison to Sabotage Linux

First off, congrats and hats off for releasing the first tech preview. It is a lot of work you've put in. I've only been watching the project for a couple of weeks but it looks very interesting to me.

So my questions revolve around what are the differences and similarities between Janus Linux and Sabotage Linux?

  • What are the differences in goals/vision between Janus and Sabotage?
  • What are the differences in utilities that will be used? For example Sabotage uses runit, which I like and prefer over OpenRC?
  • Anything else worth knowing?

Package Bug: MISSING OUTDATED PACKAGE

pkgmk and it's toolset seems to be CRUX specific in the linux world. It is also listed as heirloom (out of date/not to be used) by Sun, the licence holder.

Actual Behavior

BARCH=x86_64 ./build stage 0

==> Setting up the build environment
==> Building the build environment
==> Building cross-toolchain for 'x86_64' platform
==> Adding fake ldconfig
==> Emerging 'base-files' package
./build: line 49: pkgmk: command not found

Steps to Reproduce the Problem

  1. see above

Specifications

  • Architecture: x86_64
  • Package Version:20190520

Other Notes:
1-It looked like a distribution worth trying, but if it's not buildable from other versions of linux it's not. I also note nothing in the prerequisite list that includes a generic package for the pkgmk set.

Cannot build aalib.

Expected Behavior

Compiling just fine

Actual Behavior

There is always an error when compiling something, here's one for compiling for aarch64.

Steps to Reproduce the Problem

  1. ./build stage -j12 -a aarch64 meta-toolchain
  2. ./build image -j12 -a aarch64 -d mate

Specifications

  • Architecture: aarch64 target
