This is a bug in rhea. The spec states that the keys should be symbols. I've checked in a fix: a5b11ad and will push a new release to npm shortly.

However you should I think be able to workaround if you can't update to that using rhea.types.map_symbol.

I think our c# amqp transport also interprets these property names as symbols. While the spec does mention that a defined list of symbols can be found in AMQPMESSANN, it sure isn't to explicit about it. Your interpretation was pretty reasonable. I very much appreciate the adjustment. I will try this out shortly.
