rust-fullstack-example's Introduction

rust-fullstack-example

An example of creating a full stack web application (backend and frontend) using Rust.

Prerequisites

Install Trunk.

Database (Docker)

To run PostgreSQL using docker-compose, run:

  • docker-compose -f docker-compose.yml up, press Ctrl + C to quit
  • docker-compose -f docker-compose.yml up -d to run in detached mode, and run docker-compose -f docker-compose.yml down when done

Backend

Go to ./backend and start the server using make dev.

Frontend

Go to ./frontend and start a local server on port 8080 using make web.

You can visit the frontend by going to http://127.0.0.1:8080.

You can create owners and for each owner, on their detail page, create pets and delete them.

rust-fullstack-example's Issues

The reference of foreign key in `db.sql`?

CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS owner
(
    id SERIAL PRIMARY KEY NOT NULL,
    name VARCHAR(255) NOT NULL
);

CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS pet
(
    id SERIAL PRIMARY KEY NOT NULL,
    owner_id INT NOT NULL,
    name VARCHAR(255) NOT NULL,
    animal_type VARCHAR(255) NOT NULL,
    color VARCHAR(255),

    CONSTRAINT fk_pet_owner_id FOREIGN KEY (owner_id) REFERENCES pet(id)     # pet(id) -> owner(id)
);

How to run on Windows 10?

I installed GnuWin32 and MinGW on Windows, then run "make dev" command for backend --> it run OK.
But when I try with "make web" command for frontend, it shown err:

C:\Projects\Rust\rust_fullstack_exp\frontend>make web
'RUSTFLAGS' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
make: *** [web] エラー 1

Dockerfile

Can anyone come up with a Dockerfile to run this? The Dockerfile in the linked article on blog.logrocket was no help. I get an errror saying it can't find the backend Cargo.toml when I run it.
