xemu-website's Issues

[CSS] Navigation overflows over footer when expanding development and debugging

When expanding the development nav item, and the debugging item under that, the page will overflow after the header when scrolling down. Items are accessible when you scroll down far enough but it's not convenient.

Also, the parts of the navigation bar will be inaccessible if the page does not scroll/ the viewport is too small

I would make a pull request but CSS is not my strong suit.

Game save db

Probably not in the repo, but it would be nice to have a mechanism to share/retrieve 100% saves for games and link to them.

Add known game engines

Titles that share game engines may be affected by the same issue. It would be useful to tag this and filter by it

GUI screenshots

Following merge of GUI branch, consider adding screenshots demonstrating the user interface.

Carousel video

The old v0.5 showcase video has been replaced with a screenshot carousel, which is nice. However, I did like having some interesting video for people to see. Perhaps the carousel can feature some video.

Add "Testing needed" mechanism to the website

In order to better organize testers, we should have a section on the website that lists issues and/or titles that specifically need attention.

Features:

A mechanism to automatically set priority/sort order.

  • Titles with recently closed issues (since the xemu version in the last compatibility report) should be boosted so that fixes can be verified.
  • Titles with recently reported issues should be boosted so that issues can be verified (but prioritized lower than recently closed).
  • Remaining titles should be prioritized by age of last compatibility report (oldest reports first) to encourage re-tests.
  • The automatic boosts should be ignored once a new compatibility report comes in.

Ideally privileged users should also have a mechanism to override the automatic priority.

It'd also be nice to have a mechanism for privileged users to add specific notes (e.g., "Please test this on Windows with an AMD card.")

[Bug] Compatibility Page slows down and sometimes crashes on Firefox

Hey I noticed that the compatibility page seems to use a lot of memory and sometimes causes the browser to crash when scrolling through the list. Might be a good idea to make the list multi-page so it uses less memory instead of loading it all at once.

Using Firefox 112.01 by the way in case that helps. I had 24 other tabs open at the time of the crash.

More screenshots

Need some interesting screenshots showcasing more popular titles, like Conker, JSRF, and NGB. Notice screenshots are 2x scaling. Make sure resolutions match before submitting anything. Related #121

Add browsable history to compatibility reports

Currently only the latest test report is visible for each title in the compatibility list. This can lead to information loss, e.g., if a title performs well on one configuration but not on another, or if a tester provides a report of poor quality.

It'd be very useful to be able to search back through recent history to read prior reports.

Ideally consecutive reports by the same user should be collapsed (to handle situations like a user reporting a title as "perfect" and then immediately realizing it is not).

It'd also be very useful to allow a privileged role to delete or hide reports.

Improve feature card visuals

The descriptions are nice and simple, but lack luster. It would be nice to improve the feature section with some imagery/animated sequences, that demonstrate & advertise the features more prominently.

Some thoughts:

  • Open Source: Some image of source/GitHub repo
  • Cross Platform: Images with window chrome from different platforms
  • System Link: Image with multiple xemu instances / Xboxes networked together
  • Gamepad Support: Images of different gamepads
  • Snapshots (Save States): Sequence of saving/loading snapshots (maybe after the new UI lands)
  • Render Scaling: Sequence of real-time res scale switching

Severe graphics tearing and wrong/missing textures

All games I've tested work great one 1 PC but on my 2nd PC a lot of models and graphics have severe tearing. 2d assets seem to tear diagonally and all particle effect (I think) seem to explode all over the scene and a lot of missing/incorrect textures. Games themselves play very smooth at ~30-40fps, so it's just the visuals. Xbox menu and boot sequence plays perfectly, as does Halo 1 main menu.

Add hashes of game files

Eventually I would like to be able to automatically rule out bad game dumps. Redump is the standard for full disc dumps, but many people like to just FTP games off their Xbox.

Authenticate GitHub API access

We occasionally hit rate limits now and the site will fail to build. Authenticate to raise the limit and stop failing randomly.

Prototypes/betas/demos

It would be nice to include unreleased games and demos, and have them tagged for filtering
