Hello,
there is a tiny inaccuracy in the readme file:

"rake db2s3:backup:clear" should be "rake db2s3:backup:clean"

Thanks for this gem!

It seems that in the mysql options, there's no check for what the host is.. Would be helpful for dreamhost users like myself.

Also, unless I'm missing something, :username is the default for accessing the login name, not :user.. Am I mistaken?

It took me quite a while to find the solution to this problem, so I figured I'd just post it over here. The above error was displayed to me when I tried to run the full backup.

Diagnosis: db2s3 will not work with Buckets in Europe
Solution: after creating a specific bucket for the mysql backups in the US it worked like charm.
