servestream's Issues

Crash on alarm triggering.

I tried ServeStream on my Google (Asus) nexus 7, Android 6.01. as I wanted an alarm clock that automatically plays from playlist of internet radio stations.

Whenever the alarm is triggered I get the "Unfortunately ServerStream has stopped". I have tried a local file:// playlist as well as a remote http:// playlist. Creating indivdual entries also made no difference, all attempts crashed when the alarm was triggered.

Here's the url I'm using: http://freezone.iinet.net.au/freezone-radio-playlist.m3u
Be great if you could fix this as otherwise VLC is more usable and mature (obviously has a larger dev team) but doesn't have a playlist alarm feature.

Also a feature request, when I chose to "Store individual playlist entries", the URL list needs to show the file/radio station name, not just the meaningless URL. I notice in the above m3u an #EXTINF value, please display this in the list (eg. "The 80s Channel").
Thanks.

Allow stop playing from the notification

It would be usefull to allow to Stop completely the player from the notification with a new "button" or "sliding" the notification (like other Android players).

Now to stop the player you have to accés de "now playing" screen, accés the menu and select the stop option.

Thanks

unable to play iHeart URL with ServeStream

I have encountered a problem playing an iHeart URL:

https://stream.revma.ihrhls.com/zc4814

When I attempt to open it I get a spinner and Opening URL..., but it never opens.

This is on my Motorola moto e running android 10.

I can play the URL with VLC on the phone, so it seems there is something funny done by iHeart that your app does not cope with.

Thanks for your work on this app.

Chrome casting??

Hello. This is my go to for streaming. I recently was given a Google home.
Do you have any plans to add the Google casting features in?
Thanks.
Steve.

Shortcuts crash Quickstep

Finally upgraded my old Android 10 phone to something running pretty close to base Android 13.

If I create a desktop shortcut, then click on it, Quickstep will crash. (Which honestly, I think is pretty impressive.)

black theme like in 0.6.x

beforehand i have to say ServeStream is one of the most under-recognised apps i know... (i found it myself just accidentally years ago on fdroid)!
it is the only webradio-player (beside radio-browser.info for browsing) i need... thank you very much @wseemann, i love it!!!

anyhow i didn't upgrade to version 0.7.x because of the white theme which really flashes and looks a kind of misplaced at my android with a black default theme... it would be really nice to have an (optional) black theme again.
and yes, i'm talking about a black theme, because this also helps to save even more energy especially with an AMOLED-display.

btw, completely unrelated but:

  • the mentioned version in the about-menu is still 0.7.0.
  • and a link at the old project-page at sourceforge to the new home would make sense.

Doesn't follow redirects

When opening a URL that responds with a 301 or 302 redirect response with a new location with the actual stream, ServeStream says "The url could not be opened." Expected behavior would be for it to open the stream at the redirect location.

Error in Building

This is what i got when trying to build , any solution to this please?

Error: /home/ServeStream-master is not a valid project (AndroidManifest.xml not found)

Feature Request: Chromecast support

I have the bad feeling that this wonderful app is no longer maintained, but in case I'm wrong, I'll just say that I love this little app since it's surprising how few streaming apps for Android let you manually input stream URLs. With that being said, I'd really love it if I could use this app with Google Chromecast.

Wish: cycle through radio stations by bluetooth forward/backward buttons

Hi,

I like to use servestream in my car to listen to radio stations I like. But riding the car, I dislike having to look and touch at my phone screen, so I would like to be able to use the hardware buttons I have in my car to choose the channel, just like on a "real radio".

Perhaps you could add this option?

Thanks for the great software!

Stream mpd httpd

Hi,

I tried this app to play stream from mpd, by setting httpd audio interface, so for example I can play:

$ mpv http://192.168.0.4:8000

When I set same address in ServeStream, I get some nice experimental ambient music, but not the one that's played through my mpd daemon.

I'm I missing something obvious?
