twitch-reloaded-roku's Issues

[feature request] option for hiding categories or channels from the "browse" views

It would be nice if you could press the "*" button in the "categories" view and get a menu with the option to hide a category you know you aren't interested in seeing. Then there could be another option in the same menu that would list categories you've hidden with the option of unhiding any of them individually or (with adequate confirmation) resetting the entire list.

Twitch's website sort of kind of has this ability, in that you can hide categories from the "recommended for you" list, but you can't hide categories from the "viewers (high to low)" list. While adding some version of "recommended for you" to Twoku would be nice in and of itself, it would also be nice to implement the ability to hide categories or channels from the global lists sorted by viewership.

No chat on VODs

I haven't tried watching a stream live but I noticed there's no chat (I enabled it in settings) for VODs. Might want to add that.

Also an ability to see the BTTV emotes would be cool (not sure if possible)

Install Error: No Manifest

Feeling stupid because I know I've done this before.

I used the Download ZIP option on the repo. Unzipped that just to make sure there was a Manifest file inside (and there was). Uploaded that to my installation page, but then I get this error:

Application Received: 205039 bytes stored.
Install Failure: No manifest. Invalid package.

I've tripled checked and I know that you have a valid Manifest file (even compared it to the Roku dev documentation).

Any thoughts?

Twoku crash on startup

Version: 0.8
Roku TV: 7105X
TCL model: 55S405
Software version: 10.0.0 build 4209-30

Every time I open the Twoku app, it freezes on the app home screen for about 30 seconds or so then crashes back to the TV home screen. I have confirmed my internet is working and other apps on the TV have worked without issue.

User-interface "modality" is confusing

This isn't really a bug or a feature, but I find the "modality" of the user interface confusing:

  • if you're in the sidebar, scrolling past the top doesn't move the cursor to the top bar;

  • if you're in the top bar, scrolling past the leftmost option doesn't move the cursor to the sidebar; and

  • if you've selected a channel from the sidebar, scrolling past the top of the channel page doesn't move the cursor to the top bar.

Instead, you have to press the "back" button to exit the channel, then move the cursor back to the center pane, then scroll past the top of that.

As an aside, I have two related suggestions with regard to the top bar:

  1. it would be easier if just moving the cursor between the options switched between them, rather than waiting for you to press the "ok" button, and

Note that this isn't necessary or desirable for the sidebar because unlike the top bar the sidebar shows "tooltip"-style summaries as you move the cursor from one item to the next.

  2. it would be preferable for each top-bar section to remember your position in the infinite scroll for some period of time so that if you switch sections or "drill down" before clicking "back" you won't get dumped all the way at the top of the list like you would on the Twitch website.

The way this could be implemented is that section could reload but try to put the cursor on the same item in the updated list; if the item has moved drastically on the list, the cursor could start at the same list index, and there could be a popup asking the user if they want to scroll back to the top.

The main issue with infinite scroll, though, is that you usually have to scroll up to the top in order to access the top bar, so it may make sense to add a hidden shortcut where the "back" button in the infinite scroll moves the cursor to the top bar without having to scroll to the top first, and the list would cache the cursor position as I've just described.

PiHole

Feel free to close this if you don't agree, but maybe add some comments about whitelisting badges.twitch.tv to PiHole if users are using that....

Delayed audio on Roku TV

Every channel has delayed audio that seems to be 1-2 seconds behind. If I play twitch on my phone it doesn’t lag. Nor does YouTube etc on the tv

Features says Chat is available but can't use it?

This could be my own stupidity and if it is I apologize. But the features list says Chat is implemented yet I've found no way of actually viewing chat or interacting with it? This was even after digging around the code briefly to see if it was a button I was missing.

1080p Streaming Issue

Something changed about 3-4 days ago, I noticed streams that were normally crystal clear on the 1080p setting, were now looking like 480p or 720p streams. I changed the setting to 1080p 60 and the streams were perfect.

Something changed within the 1080p setting. The 1080p 60 is perfect though.

Commercial break after (almost) every channel change

Just about every time I change to a new channel I get a screen saying something like "Commercial in progress..." and a time counts down from 15 seconds. There have been a couple of times where this didn't happen and the channel just opened without this screen. These were not channels that I am subscribed to so it isn't that.

Also, every once in a while it gets caught in a loop where this screen just keeps coming up and when the counter reaches zero it resets to 14. This has only happened to me on the RiffTraks channel.

Will not load after last Roku update

Roku updated December 11th software version 10.5.0 build 4208-29. Since update Twoku will open but channels will not load and it eventually crashes.

Uninstalling and reinstalling the app worked.

Thank you so much for making this app! It is sorely needed on the Roku.

Channel won't load from following list, but searching for it works. But sometimes it doesn't show up in search results.

I have a relatively new channel, FoxhoundAI. When going to my following list and attempting to load it, it freezes the app. Searching for it works, but only when it's actually returned in the search results. Sometimes it doesn't show up in the search results at all, despite me searching the name exactly. Loads of other results that don't even match the name show up instead. Is there a way to fix this?

Thumbnails not updating

Have been using the Twoku app on my 55" TCL Roku and the thumbnails haven't updated in about 4 days now. They work on the front page, but when you go to the following account select they are all old.

I have tried uninstalling to fix it but still won't update.

Crashing

App will occasionally crash after a few minutes of watching someone while they are live. Haven't noticed it happening when watching VODs.

re-authenticating Twoku after resetting your Twitch password is difficult

After resetting my Twitch password Twoku's home screen appears mostly unresponsive to me, to get to the login screen to re-authenticate I have to hit '*' on my remote then hit '<-' to go back. At which point I am able to move over to the login option. Additionally, it appears the app crashes (for me) after being left too long on the authentication code screen.

2FA Crash

I enabled 2fa on my twitch account. Now, when I launch twoku 0.8 (or beta), it will launch, lock up (the ui will display, but can navigate around) and in approx 30 seconds to a minute, it will crash back to roku home screen. I am using a roku express if that matters.

Channels won't load. Others will.

Similar to the issue started with the Pokemon channel...

The mystery science theater 3000 channel will not load. Sometimes I can get to the screen but it's black it says it's reached its maximum video it'll say like a 23 minutes 24 minutes etc etc. Does not provide any buffer or nothing just will not play. From the same group of people the RiffTrax channel will play. Same with all the other ones.

I am subscribed to the channel as I am with the other ones I can click on them if they're live and it'll show the small video preview on the screen. Their previous broadcast videos etc will not load either.

Already gone through and changed every setting that I can think of in the app making zero difference.

Anything I can do to help please let me know.

Code Not Up-to-Date

The code in this repo seems to be outdated when compared to the actual Roku app. (For example, the chat isn't in the code anywhere.)

I'd like to contribute to the project, but can't because it's not up to date.

Ability to manually set a chat latency delay to sync with stream?

Hopefully this will be seen:

It would be amazing if there was an option to simply delay chat by how long the video is delayed. It seems like the chat is shown live, but the video has a huge latency delay (which is fine). I think it's more important to focus on delaying the chat rather than reducing latency of the video. I just wish there was a way to manually delay the chat to sync with the video, maybe a spot in the settings to manually set it to be delayed by seconds or milliseconds.

Twoku is honestly an amazing app and this is the only problem I find myself running into. It's the only thing making me want to buy an amazon fire stick or something like that with integrated twitch. But yeah, great work! Would love to see this being added in the future.

Subscription has ads

Ads play even though I have logged in and have a subscription to the streamer

Crashes

Streams open then app force closes. Such a ds app

Roku removing private channels

Now that roku has got rid of private channels is there plans to make this as a released channel? Thanks

Edit to remove: "or is there any guidance on how to build and side load this to own device via developer account"

Support for Low-Latency Mode

Low Latency mode is a great mode for streams with heavy chat engagement, so I believe it should be considered if feasible.

Inspecting the Firefox traffic for enabling/disabling low-latency mode reveals the following values in the base64'ed POST data json

"component": "latency_mode_toggle", "component_state": "enable",

It seems like this would be a good fit to be added into the Options.brs/.xml, but I haven't been able to dedicate enough time to pour over this repo and figure out how individual requests are sent, given the two current options are just used passively instead of resulting in a direct POST, so I can't just copy, paste, and refactor lol

Can't add channel on my Roky by access code (not available in my region)

Hi,

I'm from Brazil and I'm not able to install your app by the access code. I tried installing the GitHub version using developer mode, but it does not work. The top menu is visible, nothing else is present on the screen and the buttons do nothing.

Is there is any chance you would enable it to work for other regions to install the latest version using the access code?

Thanks!

403 when trying to add the channel

I tried to add the channel to my Roku account, following the instructions in the README of this project. But I get a message saying:
El código de canal brindado está asociado con un canal no disponible en tu región.
The channel code provided is associated to a channel not available in your region

Could you please make the channel available in all regions? Or at least this one? I cannot find the region in my device or account, but I'm trying to add the channel from Mexico.

Thanks

Twoku no longer works

I attempted to use the Roku app today and I was greeted with a message that Twoku has moved to a new access code. When I attempted to add the new channel to my account it says that Twoku will now be charging $1 a month for access. I decided to go ahead and add the channel (was only going to see what was going on. I AM NOT PAYING FOR A DAMN TWITCH APP), but I was then told that the app was not available in my region ( I'm in the US)

Feature idea

Ability to change stream quality using the auto transcode that Twitch does to partnered and affiliate streams.

Extreme audio/video stuttering/buffering on only some channels

About half the channels I watch are perfectly fine with no hitches. But on other channels, there is extreme stuttering/buffering. It doesn't matter what quality setting it is, from 1080p60 to 160, it just doesn't work.

If you want to test:
Channels with no problem; AdmiralBahroo, Bwana, MANvsGAME, ProtonJon

Channels with severe problem; channelawesome, EZScape, thegrayfruit, TPAIN

Stuttering after being on channel for a short time

Often, after just starting to watch a channel the video starts to stutter and pauses for ~0.5sec every few seconds. The only way to fix this is to back out of the channel and go back in. But that can be very annoying due to the other issue that I just submitted, the commercial screen.

This doesn't happen every time but it happens often and cam happen on any channel.

Twoku crash started today

Twoku started crashing for me today. I've removed the app, reinstalled, and even tried the beta version. Same issue.

TCL 32-inch 3-Series 720p Roku Smart TV - 32S335, 2021 Model
Software version: 10.0.0 - Build 4195-48

Not able to watch the Pokémon Twitch Channel (could potentially affect other channels)

Issue is basically as forward as the title is. When the Pokémon Twitch Channel is live every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 4-6 PM CDT, clicking it like you normally would to watch a channel's stream does absolutely nothing. It's as if I never clicked the stream to begin with, it just doesn't respond. It's also the ONLY channel that I've experienced this with, and I have no idea as to why. If anyone can figure out anything to fix it/or bypass it, it would be appreciated!

I guess this issue could potentially affect other Twitch Channels, but again, I'm not sure why exactly.
