Results pane allows clicking through to line in affected file.

Allows opening recent file rapidly from File menu.

Syntax highlighting (code detection). Maybe use pygments.

Perhaps have "Install Windows Explorer integrations" menu item in Help menu (similar to how PyCharm works). Also need "Uninstall..."

Remote save “Save to remote”. Works the same as save as. Same dialog as open remote. Allows selecting existing saved remote, or connecting to new remote.

Remote open “Open remote”. Separate dialog needed to login and browse remote tree. File sftp’d to local file for editing. Saving would auto transfer file back.

Default to UTF-8 when unknown? Edit menu has auto-detect and UTF-8. Auto-detect is on by default.

Open a file in binary mode displaying hex for content. Check other editors.

Normal mouse interactions. Triple-click selects whole line? Check other editors.

Check that Undo undoes a sensible previous action (e.g. not individual characters but perhaps the last typed sentence or word). Maybe need some kind of timer to break actions into timed chunks. Check other editors.

Display line numbers in left margin (default on, but configurable in View menu). Also support "Go to line" from View menu.

Possibly use regex mode (check other editors).

Have menu override in Edit menu. Default is auto-detect, but can specify always Unix or Windows.

State about the current session (opened tabs, unsaved backed up files, window positioning etc.) should be saved. This should be kept separate to the user preferences as the state is machine dependent. Suggest ~/.pyrite.conf for preferences and ~/.pyrite_data/state and ~/.pyrite_data/backup/ for the state information and backup folder.

If editor is closed (from X icon or File -> Exit), then it will remember the state of all open tabs, including any tabs that have not yet been saved.

Simple unit test that tests the Tk main window? Will this work headlessly in CI? Use GitHub Actions?

Use tabs for each new file. If editor is already open, should open a new tab and not a new editor instance.

This can be turned on (off by default) so that text can be selected by column (like CTRL-V in Vim).
