Zabbix template for monitoring Fronius inverters

Introduction

This Zabbix template allows monitoring of Fronius devices such as inverters, dataloggers and smart loads through the Fronius Solar API V1.

The template uses Zabbix dependent items to reduce the number of API calls made to the device. One API call is made and multiple dependnt items use JSON and javascript pre-processing to parse the required field from the response.

Requirements

Usage

  1. Download fronius.xml
  2. Login to Zabbix and navigate to Configuration -> Templates -> Import
  3. Import fronius.xml
  4. Create a host and specify the inverter IP or hostname in the Agent Interface field
  5. Add the template to the host
  6. (optional) Add a macro for the host to monitor {$DEVICE_ID} => 2 (default is 1, when you only have a single device monitored)
  7. Save and test you can see data

Energy Generated Day is limiting at 3.28 kWH

Hi Wilson,
Thanks for your Template XML code to produce a very nice graph in Zabbix of my Fronius Solar Inverter. I have one problem - the 'Energy Generated Day' is limiting at 3.28 kWh. Today is the second day this has happened, so it is not a 'glitch'. It appears to be that the CumulationInverterData>DAY_ENERGY is an unsigned number and so it is maxing out at 32,768. I am not sure if it makes a difference of the size of the system - I have a 1 kW system (installed 2009). I have attached an image showing the limitation. I know that it is a display issue as my system has already generated 4.11 kWh today.
