unbounded's Introduction

About Unbounded

Unbounded is possibly the first open source, freely available and on-chain funded font in the world, thanks to the Polkadot treasury.

Unbounded by both name and nature, it is available in six display weights ranging from light to black, as well as a single variable font. The typeface supports both Latin and Cyrillic scripts with over 1300 individual glyphs, including a collection of symbols and a unique figure building system. In addition the sizeable glyph set accommodates for hundreds of languages worldwide.

Unbounded is the product of a joint collaboration between Studio Koto, NaN, Parity Technologies and Web3 Foundation for Polkadot Network.

unbounded's Issues

self-intersection within font?

Hello,
I try to use this font within inkscape and I always have the same issue, whatever the version of inkscape I use : there is some self intersection in the letters that are visible when typing text in inkscape.
Is there any version of Unbounded that prevents this, by any chance?
Thanks!

Support Greek characters

Thank you for this great font.

It would be fantastic if you could add support for Greek characters in a future revision. One of the key features of Unbounded is strong multi-language support, it's unfortunate that Greek characters are missing :(

Add source files

There are no source files (UFO, glyphs, etc) in this Git repository, only compiled fonts, but the about section says the project is open source.

See section 2 of the Open Source Definition

The program must include source code, and must allow distribution in source code as well as compiled form. Where some form of a product is not distributed with source code, there must be a well-publicized means of obtaining the source code for no more than a reasonable reproduction cost, preferably downloading via the Internet without charge. The source code must be the preferred form in which a programmer would modify the program. Deliberately obfuscated source code is not allowed. Intermediate forms such as the output of a preprocessor or translator are not allowed.

Incompatible with alacritty

I am working on a new terminal centric operating system UI and wanting to use Unbounded for it. Anyhow it seems that it is not compatible in its current form with Alacritty. Rofi with .rasi files seems to be functioning correctly, but spacing tends to be incorrect in alacritty.

Versioning scheme

Hi!

I tried to reach on Discord before, but sadly didn't get anywhere on there.

I'd like to package the font for Arch Linux, and I'm trying to figure if there's any versioning scheme in place, given there is bound to be future development.

I fished 1.5 in the metadata of the font files, but I assume that is a build artifact and likely version of some piece of software the files went through?
