furnace's Issues

Rewrite in Go

Bash sucks. It's too easy to be sloppy, it's difficult to understand at times, and, very annoyingly, it's really, really slow. Additionally, it's not really platform agnostic (specifically, Windows unfriendly). As of now, furnace is almost entirely built on tools such as grep, sed, etc. That's fine and dandy for simple scripts, especially for personal use, or situations that may safely depend on such tools, but that is no longer the case.

At first, furnace (back before it was dubbed smelt) was just that - it served as a way to render my resource pack. That's still true, actually, but it's potential has grown immensely since then. It aims to be pack agnostic now, for one thing, and ends up seeing more work than the packs it's meant to render. That's fine, but it's really in need of an overhaul.

As is, furnace is functional, and should be stable for the time being, so I shall be putting my efforts into better places, that is, rewriting furnace in a more efficient, powerful, language. There are many ways in which I might go about this, but right now, I am planning on learning Go C++ Go.

This has been the plan for some time now, but as time goes on, my studies are becoming ever more time and energy consuming. Starting mid-day-ish from the November 3rd 2017 onward, however, I will be done with high-school, and have the next 9 months or so before starting into university. Until then, however, I expect little to no activity on this front.

Furnace fails to render anything on Ubuntu

I usually work on Solus, but I've temporarily been using Ubuntu on a different machine as well. Thought I'd do some work with furnace, but found it wouldn't do anything useful, including giving an error message. This needs to be fixed.
