DirectWrite bindings and wrapper for Rust
A thin wrapper around Windows DirectWrite for Rust
Dwrote provides access to pieces of DirectWrite needed by WebRender and Servo. It can be easily extended to other parts of DirectWrite, but full mapping of the DirectWrite API is not a goal (pull requests accepted, of course).
There are a few additional helper functions on individual types that don't exist in DirectWrite, and a few have had their signatures changed, but for the most part this library attempts to replicate the DirectWrite API.
font-kit broke on Windows because of this. API changes should only be done in minor version updates, not patch versions for this reason. Could you yank yesterdays update and reversion it to 0.6 ?
Wouldn't it be more idiomatic to return Result instead of asserting hr == 0 all over the place?
Not exposing the abillity to fail and instead panicing makes the api unidiomatic in my opinion, since e.g. FontDescriptor can be manipulated by the user, which in turn can cause hr != 0.
You merged my PR yesterday but you forgot to publish. Please move the repository to the servo organization so that we can manage permissions on it.
Need to add support for IDWriteFontFileLoader/FontStream etc. to create a FontFile from bytes.
