The solution is at the end of the error ;)
You're missing a pair a square brackets

Also I don't know if this was simplified for reproduction (and then that's good), but probably you don't need this preset.
Runtime is automatic by default

For reference the docs for @babel/preset-react list classic as the default. If this option is not sent it fails to serve with ReferenceError: React is not defined

What I mean is that you probably don't need to change the config at all, the default of the Vite React plugin is automatic runtime

ahhh ok. So the preset is redundant, gotcha! We originally added this when instrumenting our code for Cypress but it makes sense that setting our babel config through a react plugin would have the correct config by default. Thanks for the tip!
