Instructions for dummies...

Hi, after 15 years of using my Logitech MK700 keyboard, I had to switch to a new Logitech one, which of course no longer is supported by the SetPoint software, hence I can no longer use the "One Touch Search" feature, which I sorely miss. I came across your software, but I am a total noob in terms of coding and such.

Your instructions give 2 options:

Either compile the source code with VS2010 or run the binary available on the Release section: an icon will be placed on the system tray.

The first one, I have no clue how to do. The 2nd one, I was hoping meant that there was a simple EXE file I could run, but I don't think that's the case?

Is there a way for me to be able to run your software on my PC, without learning how to code and such? :-)

Why do you need to use Windows Calculator to change the hotkey?

Hi, it's me again… I love your code I have to say! πŸ˜ƒ

I was reading the instructions to change the hotkey and step 2 says you need to "Open the Windows Calculator in programmer mode and click on HEX to input and output hexadecimal values." But I don't see why and what output you get that is used later on?

In step 1, you look up the values of the C++ Win32 constants from the linked table. You don't need a fancy calculator to do the math in step 3 to add the last digits of the constants (1 + 2 + 4 = 7). Or to multiply 7 by 10000 (I assume that's a fixed number always) and get 70000.

And then, it seems you just have to replace the last 2 digits of the number you got with the ones from the constant for the key you chose. No? In your case, you swap in 4B to get 7004B.

I tried the Z key for example (0x5A) in the calculator and it works the same way. You get 7005A.

So what do you need a hex calculator for?

Doesn't work

Hi there, installed from the 1.1 binary (Windows 10 Pro : 1809)

Icon appears in systray, registry is there and configured correctly (just the default).

I have a custom keyboard layout, but neither the physical k key nor the changed key works.

I programmed my new logitech mouse with the shortcut but that also doesn't work

Tried to search text from:

  • Firefox
  • Notepad
  • Word

Hopefully we can sort this out because I just received a new mouse for christmas and the lack of one-touch search is killing me

My default search engine path keeps reverting to Google.COM!

Hi, this is driving me nuts because I can't figure it out! It's simple enough to do to change the search engine path in the Registry Editor... And I know I'm doing it right, because I've changed the Hotkey from the default to SHIFT CTRL F9, and that works. But every time I overwrite the search engine URL from Google.COM to .CA, it keeps reverting back!

This is the path I use: http://www.google.com/search?q=

I've even changed it to .IT (Italy) and it works and saves it, but it hates Canada for some reason! What am I doing wrong?

My sequence is to kill the app first, then go to Reg Editor, change it, close Reg Editor (Save does not seem available as a function anymore), and then launch OTS. I don't reboot the PC in between, but that didn't seem needed seeing that my change to .IT worked this way.

And it keeps going back to .COM.

Aaarrrggghhh! Please help if you know what's going on.
