solrcli's Introduction

Solr CLI

A simple automation friendly CLI tool for Solr. Its interface is designed to be much like the HTTP interface, but with operational tasks in mind.

java -jar solr.jar search apples -fl=id,title -omitHeader

solrcli's Issues

Syntax doesn't accept -q=foobar

Although the preferred way to do this is with the command "search", the other examples show the habit of convering URL syntax &fl=a,b,c to command line of -fl=a,b,c, so that would make you think that &q=foobar would be -q=foobar

Not a big deal but would be nice to have

No default fields displayed, not even id field

Schemas vary. Even the name of the ID field can vary.

It'd be nice if the system would at least lookup the id field name and include that, if none are set.

Another option would be to default to fl=*, but that gives a pretty busy output, and has issues with some data types.

Including multivalue field gives error

With the demo documents that ship with Solr, if you try adding the field "features" you get:
java.lang.RuntimeException: Unknown object type: java.util.ArrayList
