git_training's Issues

Filename case sensitivity on Windows.

Not an issue as such but it might be worth mentioning for Windows folk who have no *nix exposure that when using command-line Git on Windows, the OS isn't case-sensitive when it comes to filenames but Git is.

So if you create 'bob.txt' then this, as per the tutorial, won't work in Windows:

git add Bob.txt

but this will:

git add bob.txt

I don't understand how to setup my DevEnv

Hello.
I'm working through your tutorial as part of the pre-work for a BootCamp.

I'm trying to setup my DevEnv, and I don't understand how to link those three folders to Git.

Do I create them on my HD and tell git where they are at?
Is the Git folder in my user account my WorkingDir?
Is the Desktop app my local repository?

I keep trying to create these in my Documents, but my clones show up in the Git folder in my user account, while Terminal is sending them to a folder I created.

I tried to fix the problem myself by deleting and moving things, and that just made it worse.

I'm fine uninstalling and restarting, but that doesn't fix the problem in Terminal.

I'm just looking for a clean start with everything in the right place for me to begin. I don't have anything I can't afford to lose.

Handle translations

Hi,
I love this Git tutorial and I'm currently translating it to Catalan in my fork: https://github.com/joapuiib/git_training/tree/master/translations/ca

I've created a folder named translations where a folder can be created for each language this tutorial is translated to. I don't know if this is the best approach. I'd like to hear from you and know if you think this is a good idea.

For now, I've been working on the master branch, but I've seen that tutorial_wip exists In order to not make the history "dirty". I could make the branch translation_catalan and then, merge it to master, but there would be a visible commit that would spoil the history if a lot of translations are being made.

Do you want to integrate translations and, if so, how would be the best way to add these changes?

Licensing

Hello,
I'm creating some slides for my students about Git and I would love to use the images provided in this repository. I can't find any information about the license of the contents of this repository.

First, have you thought of adding any kind of license?

Can I use the images? If so, how should I reference it and give appropriate credit?

Thanks in advance.
