capster's Issues

Capster graphic/color suggestion

Thanks for Capster. It's a great idea, especially for those of us who touch-type. The graphic shown in the menubar status item and the Growl notifications is nice. Unfortunately, it doesn't work as well for folks who are red-green colorblind. May I recommend a graphic that's filled in ("lit up") for on, and a hollow frame ("dark", same as now) for off? That would give an instant visual cue similar to the LED on the actual key. You wouldn't even need two colors then ... the green would be sufficient. This would also work for indicating Caps Lock status via the monochrome status menu item (which currently does not indicate status).

Capster preferences pane font

A minor annoyance in Capster 1.4: In the preferences pane, I see two different fonts in use: One is Lucida Grande, same as most UI elements, but the radio buttons seem to use a different font, possibly Helvetica. It would be more legible if the same font were used throughout (and preferably the one that is used in most other UI elements).

Capster is triggered by other buttons

Capster seems to be triggered by other buttons other than Capslock. For example, when I click a mouse button that is mapped to cmd+] or cmd+[ with Steermouse (http://plentycom.jp/en/steermouse/), Capster thinks that I am turning off caps lock. It also does this when I press other hotkeys (can't quite figure out which ones).

Has anyone else noticed this behavior?

Capster notification text suggestion

You might use the notification text as another visual cue in addition to the graphic. Instead of making the text for both "on" and "off" in all-capital letters (for emphasis), maybe try using all-caps for a cue as to the Caps Lock state: "Caps Lock is ON" vs. "Caps Lock is off" (form follows function).
