sshserver's Introduction

SSHServer

This is a tutorial on how to build a basic SSH Server in C#. The wiki is a step by step process for setup with explanation of the various terms.

Please view the Wiki for a full walkthrough!

For extra credit, I also ported the SSH Server to NodeJS.

Both samples get as far as sending and receiving encrypted packets. It does not implement any SSH services such as user-auth. But, after finishing the tutorial, adding new handlers for those packets and responding to them should be simple.

It also doesn't implement a variety of non-required algorithms. I recommend extending your service to include more algorithm options.

sshserver's Issues

Support of Subsystem request?

Hi TyrenDe!

I read thru your Wiki and find this is a very interesting and educational step-by-step introduction that taught me a lot about how SSH basically works. The way you separated the entire task into understandable parts is brilliant.

Two things it seems not to cover so far is (basic) authentication and handling the request of a named subsystem. Both I'd need to make use of the code in a real life application. Do you have plans for this?

Thanks
Karlo

Poll() is different in documentation and src code

Hi,

Great repository, don't know if you still actively maintain just a note:

Documentation for Poll() is different from source code

https://github.com/TyrenDe/SSHServer/wiki/003:-Listening-for-Connections

Code says:

                Task<Socket> acceptTask = m_Listener.AcceptSocketAsync();
                acceptTask.Wait();

                Socket socket = acceptTask.Result;

Documentation says:

            while (m_Listener.Pending())
            {
                Task acceptTask = m_Listener.AcceptSocketAsync();
                acceptTask.Wait();

                Socket socket = acceptTask.Result;
                m_Logger.LogDebug($"New Client: {socket.RemoteEndPoint.ToString()}");

                // TODO: Create and add client list
            }

The documented code throws a error as the Task is not returning a Result.
