When images are embedded, a shadow can be defined:
.. image:: ../images/a4.jpg
:class: with-shadow
This will currently create html like:
<img alt="Left floating image" class="with-shadow" src="../_images/a41.jpg" style="width: 130.0px; height: 130.0px;">
and use css:
.with-shadow {
box-shadow: 0 2px 10px #bababa;
}
Instead, css snippet above should be used.

After running some tests, I would definitely propose to make the drop-shadow stronger. It improves readability:
Current:
box-shadow: 0 2px 10px #bababa;
My proposal:
box-shadow: 0 4px 20px #bababa;
