having the issue you've come to address:
Error: EMFILE, open

I'm using node as a stream server via createReadStream to read files.
serving the same file more then 750 times causes the error,
even though the same file is opened, not to mention when i open
another file, error happens even after 100 files are served.

just ran into the EMFILE issue, but with child processes. A drop in solution for that would be nice, too! (not just with the fs module).

There was a "EMFILE: too many open files..." error with Jade and Jade-brunch plugin, so I changed fs to filequeue. It works for me, but as the author says, there seems something wrong with the usage

Node 0.10.0 introduced changes to some of the current methods for Filequeue, so an upgrade is slightly more complicated than just a change to package.json, but we should have a functioning version that works with the latest stable Node release.
