fsharp.data.dataloader's Issues

Caching expensive computations?

I'm curious how you might go about implementing a cache function for expensive calculations. I have something that appears to work by using a MapExpr on blocked requests to set the status of a new cache entry for the calculation but it feels hacky.

Something like this.

let cache<'a> (name: string) (f: Fetch<'a>): Fetch<'a> =
    let unFetch env: Result<'a> =
        // ...
        match DataCache.get identifier env.Cache with
        | Some result -> // ...
        | None ->
            match f.unFetch env with
            | Done  a -> // ...
            | Blocked  (blocked, f) ->
                let status = FetchResultDefinition NotFetched
                DataCache.add identifier status env.Cache

                let setStatus (a: 'a) =
                    (status :>IFetchResult<'a>).SetStatus (FetchSuccess a)
                    a

                Blocked(blocked, MapExpr(setStatus, f))
            | FailedWith error -> // ...

    Fetch.create unFetch

Requests get repeated

For some reason, requests will be repeated, and even though they hit the cache, this can seriously degrade performance.
