noteapp's Introduction

Getting Started with Create React App

This project was bootstrapped with Create React App.

Available Scripts

In the project directory, you can run:

npm start

Runs the app in the development mode.
Open http://localhost:3000 to view it in the browser.

The page will reload if you make edits.
You will also see any lint errors in the console.

npm test

Launches the test runner in the interactive watch mode.
See the section about running tests for more information.

npm run build

Builds the app for production to the build folder.
It correctly bundles React in production mode and optimizes the build for the best performance.

The build is minified and the filenames include the hashes.
Your app is ready to be deployed!

See the section about deployment for more information.

npm run eject

Note: this is a one-way operation. Once you eject, you can’t go back!

If you aren’t satisfied with the build tool and configuration choices, you can eject at any time. This command will remove the single build dependency from your project.

Instead, it will copy all the configuration files and the transitive dependencies (webpack, Babel, ESLint, etc) right into your project so you have full control over them. All of the commands except eject will still work, but they will point to the copied scripts so you can tweak them. At this point you’re on your own.

You don’t have to ever use eject. The curated feature set is suitable for small and middle deployments, and you shouldn’t feel obligated to use this feature. However we understand that this tool wouldn’t be useful if you couldn’t customize it when you are ready for it.

noteapp's Issues

SQL Queries

After we create our Database and pull our data to the backend we will need SQL queries to send our notes to a table.

We will also need some logic to check if a database already exists, and if it doesn't to create one with our specs.

-We will need queries to pull Data once a note is clicked in the saved note section
-We will need an update query to update our rows and table once some one clicks on the saved note section, and clicks edit.

Create an update function for our notes

We will need an update function and button for our notes.

This will need to edit current notes.

  • it needs to be added to the false state that fires when our delete button shows
  • We will need to create a unique button for it, and add it to our switch statement
  • We will need to use OOP to manipulate the array and replace values.
  • We will need to account for possible large array sizes. This means if our object reaches a certain size we need to cut it in half and iterate over it so the results will return fast enough

Front End Clean up

We will need some editing on the buttons to clean them up to look sharp.
We will also need to remove the borders on the text areas,

Research- Acceptable Fonts, and Font Size,

Back end Server

I need to set up the back end of this.

I'm going to be using Express.js, and node.js

Routes and APIs

I will need to set up Routes to the back end of this project.

We will need several get requests that will pull our clients input into the back end. Then we can write queries to send it to the databases.

We will also need post requests on the JS side to send the input back to the routes section.

Data relation for Events and Notes

We will need to create a small amount of Data relations between Events and Notes

-We could use GraphQL

  • or we could use sequelize
-We might want to explore some new territory

Remove Index from State

We need to refactor and remove the index iteration from our state since we are targeting from the array position we don't need iteration on the front end

Advanced Front End Work

We will need to create Buttons for the both Side divisions. The should hide the divisions and the children with a click and then add them back.

-this is mainly a mobile feature, but should be set up for desktop as well

Drag and drop interface for saved Notes

Ultimately we want to drag and drop saved notes onto saved Events and assign notes to events.

-We can do this with TouchPunch and Touch PunchUI
-but this might be a good opportunity to find new software, or use vanilla JS to create our own.

Rational Database: SQL

The main reason I created this project was to showcase my understanding of SQL.

I will need to set up a Database with SQL to actively store the notes when they are created and edited.

-I will need to create if exist for the database
-a active connection to the database

  • and get request to pull the front end into a query
