Crashes when input is `.` or a unicode character [BUG]

The repl crashes when the input is a single . or any unicode character

To Reproduce

  1. Clone kookie
  2. build solution
  3. run repl
  4. type either . or any unicode character and press enter
  5. repl crashes

Expected behavior
Repl should throw badcharacter exception
